Clearly he has no idea how amiable you are, Gaz.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Couple of questions Gaz,
Does the concept of "Holy Ghost" essentially refer to a person using their own thinking on matters as opposed to obeying without question .. Church authority or even some other authority?
Why do you feel sad for F. Farmer? How do you think her life would have been better if she had your particular beliefs?

Sad? Why because she did not live in the same religion as you? If you do like her work, be thankful she did not grow up Mormon, otherwise she would have never accomplished the things you wrote about. Especially back then. Barefoot and preggers would be the only role she would be allowed to play in.Gazelam wrote:I find it interesting that she had evidence through the Holy Ghost, but she did not have the spiritual education to know what to do with that information. Wikipedia entry on her life: Here
Why not run down to the Las Vegas Mormon temple and be a good little morgbot zealot savior of the unmormon dead and have all of her work done?

Probably because, believing in his religion, he imagines it would have saved her from unnecessary suffering. Me, I'm not so sure. Mental illness strikes the LDS and non-LDS with equal fury.

I know but I am puzzled why Gaz will not help her get out of Spirit Prison®.Trevor wrote:Polygamy-Porter wrote:Sad? Why because she did not live in the same religion as you?

Besides that old Joe probably suffered from mental illness as well.

Hell, if I were an active member I would, and have her sealed to me on the sly! What a fox.
Er... just kidding.

Marg,
The Holy Ghost educates our conscience and whispers to us the things we need to know about what we encounter in our day to day lives.
Following the counsel of the brethren just assists us in learning how to listen to the spirit. Its the same as reading the scriptures. It helps us to develop a listening ear. Here is a nice talk on the subject: Click Here
Well, for one thing her life would have been better in that she wouldn't have been an alcoholic. She would have had an inner compass of faith to guide her in her choices. HSe would have had a firm piece of ground to stand on to view the world around her.

I just finished reading the book by Dan Barker called Godless. He was a Christian evangelist turned atheist currently vice president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He says he can still create that feeling you are talking about but he realizes it is nothing more than in the mind..sorry too lazy to quote him atm.
It seems to me Gaz that would you call Holy Ghost, I simply call thinking for myself.

So if she had been a Muslim then you wouldn't find it sad. No doubt people who suffer from drug addictions which significantly negatively impact their lives and others close to them, need counseling.
