What norm? I admit that I do see some posters here, both believers and non-believers act poorly, but most threads I have been in people tended to act appropriately. I also do see mods here warning people about inappropriate behavior, whether they are believers or not. That I think is better then what I see over at MADB, not that there haven't been good discussions over there, but due to the inappropriate moderating there many good posters such as runtu can't participate.
I believe that apologist tend not to post here not out of fear but rather they do not enjoy criticism. The only phenomenon an apologist may fear from a message board is the assaults on their work, therefore being embarrassed.
In fact, when they do post here it appears that they are more trolling and dangling cheese in front of mice to see how hungry he/she can make the crowd.
On the other board, apologists are often revered and applauded whereas here they do not find the same acceptence so why go where they will not receive close to the same treatment, even if this place would offer an arena to practice apologetics?

As Nehor has correctly pointed out, it is quite a frequent occurrence here, as a believer, to be personally insulted on an almost daily basis if one participates frequently. That was the "norm" I was referring to.

Well, for the record, Will didn't say any of those things to me.
It was Hammer who said someday I would wish I'd never been born. Pahoran said I deserved to be suicidal. I can't remember who said they thought my wife should divorce me.

I agree that we like to go where our opinions are more accepted, but lets face it there are other motivations going on here that I brought up in my op. A group of apologists got together as a group and decided not to post here anymore. I doubt it was due to criticism and more to do with trying to kill this site and force the discussion to MADB.

Now you know what the non-believer or sincere questioner feels like over at MADB. That said, posters who act poorly tend to be small in number on both sites, so the ignore function can greatly reduce the problem

What always frustrated me over there was that apologists could make mean-spirited and personal attacks without consequence, but the minute you responded in any way to the attacks, you would be the one suspended or banned. That doesn't exactly foster "discussion."

I don't doubt this at all, in fact I can see how this would be very benefitial. It is a shrewd "business" tactic which will more than likely eventually work.
