My sincere apologies to Will for wrongly accusing him of things he did not say.
I will modify my original post.

A group of apologists got together as a group and decided not to post here anymore. I doubt it was due to criticism and more to do with trying to kill this site and force the discussion to MADB.
Which works great for them if all we can imagine is the back and forth between "apologists" and "critics." I think it is clear that there is a lot of room for interesting discussion about Mormonism without any apologists at all. Like others, I am happy to have them here, but I by no means feel desolate without them, as though a conversation about religion is only possible when apologists participate.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

I agree. I think DCP might now as well:)

I don't doubt this at all, in fact I can see how this would be very benefitial. It is a shrewd "business" tactic which will more than likely eventually work.
I think many times it can work, but I think DCP may now realize that it won't work for reasons Trevor gives, as well as the fact that DCP does not have the following or influence he may have thought he had.

I think there is more discussion going on now, than from when I first was aware of this boards existence. It seemed like active discussion was few and far between. I didn't follow the board though, so I wouldn't know.

Because it's no fun to go to a place where you know you're going to lose before you even get started. In the fight between strained conjecture and sound reason, it's pretty obvious who's going to win.
I regard the insult slinging here as a convenient excuse for them to bow out before they even begin. If they were so offended by outrageous insults, they wouldn't be at MAD either.

God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

There's not much difference in the kinds or level of insults, just the use of profanity (and Shades blocks that out, anyway).

"Now [I] know"? Is that what goes on here? Retribution for other people's bad behavior?

I don't think that's what Schmo was saying. The big difference here is that someone might hurl an insult, but you are free to respond however you wish. The same isn't true over there.
It used to go something like this:
Apologist: [Critic], you're making this up. Just another exMormon liar.
Critic: I don't appreciate being called a liar. You can disagree with me without attacking my integrity.
Stop making everything about you, Critic! ~ mods

I'm not defending MAD&B. I have my own problems with the moderation on that board. I was simply commenting on the experience here.

No, but you claim it does happen, and I believe you, so it may help in understanding those who go over to MADB. I think I have been pretty good at not making personal attacks and wish those who do would stop.
