My dream came true...BOB LONSBERRY FIRED, AGAIN!!

Folks, dreams can come true. Bob Lonsberry, well-known racist and local radio talk show host, was fired last Wednesday. Thank God, and good riddance.

Lonsberry, and his son Lee, were shown the door. Hopefully this time the cockroach (disguised as a human) won't return like he did after being fired years ago for calling an African-American politician an orangutan/monkey.

I have listened to his show for ten years. I used to agree with much of what Bob had to say, but over time did not. I think he is certainly homophobic and racist, as well as worshipping the state in a way that may even make Droopy uncomfortable.

That being said:

1. The man was a genius behind the microphone. He was entertaining, passionate, sincere, and fun.
2. The man had a huge, and I mean huge, listenership. They are loyal and interesting people.

In other words, Bob got the job done very well for which he was hired. KNRS really made a mistake. Bob built their station from nothing. Now the listenership is going to turn from KNRS in droves and their revenues will fall. It was stupid to let him go.

In the bigger picture Bob is a dinosaur among dinosaurs. His views were often stated with rude bluntness, with breathtaking bigotry, and arrogance. I am of the opinion he is not a good person. It takes a Schryveresque type of person to be excommunicated for adultery, rebaptized, and can still condemn others for their sins against the Mormon Church. His views on gays closely mirrored those of bcspace and Gazelam. He clearly had no love for Mexicans or anyone brown. He favored the murders of hundreds of thousands of people.

But, he was a genius on the mike, I will miss him while being happy he is gone.

Man, oh man...we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. IMHO, he sounded like an infantile hillbilly on the mic. His vocal delivery was like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Add to that liberal doses of homophobia, race-baiting, Mormon arrogance, and hypocrisy and you've got him about sized up. God, he was HARD to listen to, but sometimes I would take the bait and listen for about 10 minutes. I was always intensely disappointed.

Fired for allegedly pissing in Reed's Cheerios. I don't know if we will ever know for sure.

Every brown person Bush blew up, he wanted dead, too. Every brown person Obama blew up, he wanted dead, too. Every brown person Israel blew up, he wanted dead, too. Every person a cop shot or beat to death, he wanted dead, too. It's like there was no end to the good he thought killing could accomplish if the person was brown. And if that wasn't enough, he would then be happy to list the people HE would kill if he could.

Right station Shades, wrong time slot. He was an early-morning guy, from 6:00am to 9:00am. This worked for him nicely because he did his "broadcast" from his home in upstate New York. The station claims the ratings were tanking, but Mr. Lonsberry is going into conspiracy mode and claiming that it was due to his on-air support of the "Bridgewater for Senate" campaign. The theory goes that Mike Lee (and his all-powerful, shadowy campaign group) threatened to cause ad revenue loss for KNRS. I tend to believe the simpler theory. Ratings were down...but Lonsberry's ego is too huge to even contemplate that hard truth.

He still has a show in Rochester NY. I know more about this man than most of you. first and foremost he is in then entertainment business. He is purposefully flamboyent. If you were too meet him in person you would find him quite reserved. He certainly is not racist. He may have strong views against homsexual marriage. But even though those of you who disagree love to lable such as homephobe it is simply not true.

Truer words were never spoken, Gadianton. His cop hero-worship was beyond the pale. I'm not a big fan of the police, especially the "bull" type, but I recognize that they serve an important function. But Lonsberry...my God. He could fill two hours crying (literally blubbering) about how heroic and brave the local cops were for shooting an unarmed guy at a dance club. Local citizen = always wrong. Local cop = always right. It was like he had some type of weird compulsion to give the SLC cops on-air BJ's.

Hmmm. Pretty strong. Ok perhaps you are correct. Sounds like though he had some abuse in his life. Being a similar victim of abuse by a man I understand some of the rage one can feel about it.
