BYU student learns about being careful when you're kinky
Really, shouldn't you wait until you've been dating for a little while before the stun gun and the handcuffs come out?
BYU student who tried to handcuff woman pleads guilty
The Salt Lake Tribune, 7/28/10
A Brigham Young University sophomore charged in connection with using a stun gun on a woman and trying to handcuff her has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Stetson Geo Hallam, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and second-degree felony obstruction of justice Tuesday in 4th District Court. He admitted he pinned a 19-year-old woman to the ground and tried to handcuff her after incapacitating her with a stun gun April 6 at an apartment complex where they both lived.
He told Provo police it was part of an April Fool’s Day joke. Provo police previously said the woman bit down on Hallam’s finger until he let her go.
Police said he had pursued the woman romantically, but she had no interest in him. They also say he was the woman’s home teacher in their Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward.
Judge Christine Johnson set Hallam’s sentencing for Sept. 7 in American Fork.
I was in court a couple years ago in Provo waiting for a hearing and watched a female BYU student getting a civil stalking injunction (this is what most people call a "restraining order") to keep a guy in her student ward down there away because he wouldn't leave her the hell alone with his being inspired to know that he was foreordained to marry her.
Is this kind of thing really a problem down at BYU, or are these just a couple of random, hilariously entertaining incidents?

"Hilariously entertaining" to outside observers, by the way. I'm sure these girls being involuntarily involved in some guy's Saturday's Warrior fantasy was a nightmare.

hahaha.
Okay, this isn't really funny. But sort of.
Where the hell did he get a stun gun and handcuffs? And did he think that he if he pulled this funny prank on her that she'd realize they were meant to be celestial companions?
And April 6 isn't April Fool's day. It's Jesus' birthday.

My wife had a loon stalker like this before we got married. He was inspired to know they were destined to be married and all that jazz. This was in Orem, and 8 years later he still thinks she will divorce me and go back to him.

You know he counted that as a visit right?

It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

With a student population of some 30,000 or so you're bound to see all kinds of unusual behavior over time. 99.999% of students might not do a particular thing in a given year, yet with that size of student body someone would be doing it every few years.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Mr. Antley,
Not to take issue with you, but I think on a closer examination, "April Fool's day" could be any day in April. The phrase "April Fool's day" does not specify April 1st, although that has been the common misconception and culturally accepted day. At least that is what I think Professor Peterson would say if April Fool's day being April 1st became a sticky point for him.
That the poor sod is a BYU student and Mormons believe April 6 to be Jesus' real birthday, well, that's an unfortunate coincidence.
I am as sexually motivated as any male, but I just don't get handcuffs (much less a stun gun) no matter how long I have been dating or married to a woman.
Regards,
Spider.

LOL. Of course, it's the end of the month.
