Michael Ruse wrote: The great G.E. Moore, in his Principia Ethica, demonstrated that all attempts to relate ethics to evolution falter on the "naturalistic fallacy": evolution concerns "is" statements, claims about matters of fact, while morality concerns "ought" statements.

Give me a break Ruse, Moore did write one word in his Principia Ethica about the ought/is or fact/value gap. That is not at all what Moore explains as the naturalistic fallacy. Don't name drop a text if you are not familiar with it.

I hate reading this wordy sumbitch.

"Not only do we not find any point to life laid out for us in nature, no objective basis for our moral principles, no correspondence between what we think is the moral law and the laws of nature … the emotions that we most treasure, our love for our wives and husbands and children, are made possible by chemical processes in our brains that are what they are as a result of natural selection acting on chance mutations over millions of years. And yet we must not sink into nihilism or stifle our emotions. At our best we live on a knife-edge, between wishful thinking on one hand and, on the other, despair. Living without God isn’t easy.” — Steven Weinberg, Nobel Laureate

I'm curious to know how many here believe that morality can only be attributed to a Divine Creator, or if anyone has any thoughts about the idea of morality as a socially evolved concept?

Morality is being nice. Period. Now what does God have to do with our being nice? We might consider those times when God proved his existence and Almighty power in human history: In the Expulsion from Eden, the wars against Enoch's Zion, the flood of Noah, the Tower of Babel, the Exodus of Israel, Christ in America, The Apocalrock.

When the knowledge of God is certain man wants to impress God that he was worthy of continued existence. To prove it man will refine how to be nice. Or the fear of God is the beginning of understanding.

Like when little children want somethings they tend to behave. Animals will cozy up to us when they sense a need we can satisfy.

The real point I want to make is that a certain knowledge of God, which includes some notion that he is an eternal being of infinite power, reduces the differences between us that make us evil and proud and vile and not so nice. These ego centric values vanish into insignificance and charity is born when God is better known. Hence the truth about God establishes the foundation for our being nice to one another.

And he will prove himself to each of us individually when the REAL gospel is done right.

I'm not sure what kids you are talking about - my three just pout and whine when they want something ;)
