You made me realize something. While serving my mission among southeast Asians, I used to get frustrated in their acceptance of everything. They would rarely commit to our requests but were always happy to discuss spirituality. They believed in meditation and felt there was no prescription for it. Mormonism is a one size fits all ideal.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
I remember having a church lesson on taking time to meditate after reading the scriptures and praying. But it was more about thoughts/feelings on the Book of Mormon and finding answers to prayers through the Book of Mormon. Definitely not the "ohm", clear your mind kind of meditating.

I think "ponder" is more what we were told to do.

By taking a step back and viewing from outside in, instead of inside out, I was recently able to rid myself of an element of prejudice -- the judgment of others because they did not belong to the "one true church" that has been instilled within us.

I just reread my last post and realized that it was not very clear. I must be sleep deprived.
I meant to say that viewing the Mormon issues from an outside perspective allowed me to gain a better understanding of how God loves all his children equally -- not just the people that belong to "his fold."
