Simon, don't behave like a dillweed. I was warning you from experience. You might have said thank you. Instead you continued to accuse.

Gadianton wrote:The website isn't bad, but it could be improved. For instance, one thing a visitor would like to see immediately is a layout of the campus. It's nice that you've got google maps embedded but I've always questioned the real value this adds. A map of the campus that shows buildings, parking, and all the stuff a visitor needs to navigate would be great. Thanks for considering it.
Old Wilton is quite the straggler eh? How you got that bad boy roped in
-- IP over Sonnet, or by some ancient frac T1/FR build that goes down twice a week?
I know these hospitals are slow movers.
If you tell me you've given all the old Centillions the boot from your IDFs
I'll be even more impressed if you've ditched the Banyan Vines
and forced your over-the-hill Schryver types to upgrade their IBM crap
so you don't have to inter-operate with SNA over token ring.
And please tell me for this web project that you've at least put a rickety old CSS in front of your web boxes and that you have distributed application/database layers and don't run everything on one or two Pentium II's running Windows 4.0 making calls to itself.
P.S. Add wiring closet locations etc. to that campus map, thanks in advance;

If he is truly a lawyer (although you deny it) then that fact will be manifest to me. I'll let you know one way or the other. Are you prepared for the outcome?

Gadianton wrote:No. I happen to like all three websites. I think they do well for what they are. And I think it's a real problem that you don't have a site map on your web page.

I read wikipedia all the time Simon; are you saying that you don't?
I highly recommend metropolitan technologies. Have you at least spoken with Verizon about an IP/Sonnet solution?
Microwave sucks, Simon.
I'm a little confused though about the business need for FOUR T3s out to Wilton.
Good god Simon, if you need a traditional WAN solution, look into MPLS and make your carrier drop off GigE, it will be so much easier to work with; just go with an OC3 anchored by a couple of Steelheads, that ought to scream.
There is a site map on the Stamford website.
Simon B wrote:We have line of site to the surgery center, and no trees or buildings are in the way. Fog? Where have you been for the last decade?
Simon wrote:Whatever; next year I will be the hero of the whole campus when I save the hospital tens of thousands of dollars (over the next two years).
Simon wrote:I don't know what a "steelhead" is, but Verizon has already explained that there are no fiber optics that could be used for a link to the WSC. I'm going with the dishes, and they will be awesome.

Here is an example of a site map:

Please don't accuse me of looking up what a "map" is in Wikipedia to sound more knowledgeable than I really am. I really do know what a map is because, like IP/Sonnet, I work with maps regularly.
Don't say I didn't warn you. But if microwave is all you can do, then it's all you can do.
Simon wrote:You mean like Satan would look like a hero to all the children of men, with all the glory and honor going to himself? Perhaps for our upcoming essay contest, we should make the topic "humility".
So your four DS3s are copper? RS232's and all? Take a pic, that's some old school s*** right there my friend!
Well, good luck with the dishes.

Simon wrote:LOL, it is okay to be confident and even cocky once in a while!
Simon wrote:it seems likely that Verizon just didn't want to sell us any fiber. They're making too much money off our four DS3s! I'm dropping that next year though.
