Oh, Stak. Having her as your congresswoman will be just reward enough. No need to take a swing.

Good point. I guess I can avoid getting my ass whipped by leaving it at that.

I'm an independent and sometimes vote Democrat. I hope Reid doesn't get ousted, I've never had huge problems with him. On the other hand I wish Pelosi's time were up.

I'm just excited for midterm elections to be over so the presidential election can get up and running, even though it's less exciting with an incumbent Democrat. I voted for Obama last time around but he hasn't impress me -- depending on who the Republican is this year I'll probably vote against him.

I was listening to NPR on the way home from work tonight and they were interviewing various politicians who had already had their races called. One of the republicans in the house who was known to be returning was asked how he read the apparent surge in voter support for republican/conservative candidates.

He spoke about how this represented a win for the American people rather than a win for any party, and that it represented the will of the people wanting a number of conservative political agenda items enacted. The buzz words that really stood out to me were, "No Compromise on Healthcare! No Compromise on Spending! No Compromise on tax cuts!"

No compromise.

I want to state somewhere publicly that I am tired of "No Compromise". I supported the overturn of the republican congress in 2006 and democratic expansion in 2008 because I was sick then of "No Compromise". But I'm been incredibly disappointed in the current leadership, both in the White House and in Congress and their apparent feeling that voters in 2008 gave them a mandate to run wild with one party's ideals. They also became the party of "No Compromise".

I sick to f-ing death of "No Compromise" politics. TONIGHT IS NOT A MANDATE TO RUN HOG WILD WITH ANY PARTY"S AGENDA!

I don't think I am alone. I want to see an end to "No Compromise." Now.

I met Harry Reid some years ago. From what I know about him he seems to be a good Christian and Latter-day Saint and lives his life appropriately. He even keeps a Book of Mormon in his Washington office where people can see it.

I think we're fortunate to be in a religion with such a wide tent that it can include good Latter-day Saints with many different political viewpoints. Even though I disagree with him on many secular things I'm glad to have Senator Reid associated with the name of the Church.

Thank you for sharing that. It is nice to see more broadminded political views coming from LDS folk. Usually we only get the Droopy-bcspace gospel of Bircher-Mormonism.

The problem is that any compromise now is a socialist victory. No Compromise! People who claim to stand in the middle or are independent don't really stand for anything at all but a meaningless badge of honor. They're like people who bought the early Prius' and Insights as if they were doing something for the environment and wanted people to see it.

To be one with the doctrine, there is only one possible viewpoint. Currently, it's virtually all Republican and Conservative. But who knows? Perhaps it will flip and the Democrats will become Conservative in a few decades.

Politics has become increasingly difficult for me over time. I find it more and more difficult to decide between the various pros and cons in setting up priorities such as a strong economy, a good national defense, good education and research, better opportunities for the disadvantaged, and questions such as what people should be allowed to do even it's harmful (smoke tobacco? sure. smoke pot? maybe. smoke crack? no).

I often fear that the person I voted for is the wrong one--that such a person will do precisely the wrong thing for the economy or for education or for law.
