A few years ago, a family member of mine forced us to watch a Clean Flicks edit of the Pierce Brosnan/Rene Russo version of The Thomas Crown Affair.

The nudity and swearing were edited out. Curiously, however, the thefts, the police lying (trying to use a fake search warrant), Dennis Leary confessing to beating up a suspect, and other acts of dishonesty were left in.

So, you see, some immoral behavior is acceptable for us to watch.

P.S. However, I do wish that I had 8 year-old friendly versions of a couple of my favorite movies, like Aliens.

Alcohol is a good illustration; a lot of Mormons see it as an all-or-nothing proposition: take one drink and you're on the road to alcoholism. See a naked breast in a movie, and you'll become a porn addict.

It's true. Even casual users are addicts. Ever notice how difficult it is to get them to stop and how strongly they rationalize with some sort of black vs. white/dichotomies/smell the roses argument? Don't sweat it too much, I am in the same boat by my own logic. But that fact that I can recognize that tells me that the R-movies and WoW rules are based on true principles.

My experience with casual drinkers is not similar to yours. Why are you trying to get them to stop? Why would they agree to stop? Like anything, there are those for whom one drink is too many and those for whom 2 or 3 is just fine.

By that standard, anything we do repeatedly and enjoy is an addiction.

I'm not commenting on the "true principles" aspects of "the rules" but rather on the surrender of meaning in our lives.

We rented Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Dry humping, a.k.a. Levi Luv is a major problem with Mormon kids, especially at BYU/UVU where blue jeans are a.k.a. a BYU condom.

Every time you bring this up, I can't help but think it has got to be the most uncomfortable thing to do in the world. Cloth can be very abrasive. I just don't get it man.

Wow. I am amazed that you a grown adult who does not live in the poloarized world of Utah, would feel this way.

What on earth is wrong with a person who does anything responsibly? Most Mormons who live outside of utah, have a much more realistic view of the social norms that non members participate in.

The more I read your tripe the more I believe you are overcompensating for something in your life... inactive kids perhaps?

No kidding. It's one of those things I'm glad I've never experienced. One word comes to mind when I hear about it: chafing.

I had zero idea something like CleanFlix existed. Given how lame that is, I'm not suprised to see it popular in Mormon culture.

Ironically the Mormon owner of either Cleanflix or a similar type service in Orem was arrested a year ago or so for paying young girls to give him blowjobs.

I guess too much editing got the best of Peter Priesthood..
