How does MST net out?

Here's a slightly philosophical question for ya: does MST make the church/religion look good, or the testimony bearers look bad?

My view is that it may be helpful to the struggling member or naïve or incurious investigator, but of no consequence to the vast majority of others.

There are more options than that.
It makes both the Church and the scholars look good.

To you? Seems to me that the impact depends entirely on the reader.

I think MST2010 is a complete blast. I try not to miss a single episode. When I read the testimonies, it is like listening to me if I had managed to hold on to an LDS testimony. And I pause and think, "there but for the grace of God go I."

It simply shows that some scholarly types can believe in a religion. I am certain that it reinforces some testimonies of people who need to reinforce their spirtual identity from some sort of logical validation.

For those who have read these testimonies, I am curious as to whether the bearers of such testimonies tend to use the term know instead of believe, as in: "I know this is the true Church..."?
