Re: My initial feelings about apostates and doubters
I find the best way to avoid these types of negative reactions from the faithful LDS is just not talk about faith. I have found that as soon as something non congruent with their faith slips past my lips they no longer feel like I am an intelligent human being. It doesn't matter how nice and understanding I've been in the past. I have even had people comment that they were "sure of me being a faithful member" because of that "light of Christ"/countenance things. They are later appalled by my differing world views.
I hope that more people can move past thinking that everyone outside of their faith are dirty heathens.

Yeah things change. But what do you think about the dirty feel non-believers have? Maybe you weren't as judgmental as I was. I truly felt apostates were dirty in some way - not to be touched.
I think that you were very judgemental as a Mormon and would have condemned me to hell. It is not a surprise that you fell hard. Most people who have had your talibanism fall hard when they discover something that disappoints them. Suddenly their talibanness begins to crumble and they begin to feel guilty about who they were as a TBM. We see this coming through on various exmormon sites with taliban Mormons suddenly crumbling to the earth. Interestingly, these former taliban Mormons still do not necessarily lose their talibanisms. They become taliban exmos condemning their TBM relatives and friends and members in general for what they believe.
Taliban Mormons are judgemental. But the lds church teaches not to judge.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

Since Mormonism is a world wide faith, generalism should be avoided. In the rest of the world, Mormons tend to be open minded and since they need to interact with many different people from many different faiths, the idea of dirty heathens doesn't play a role.
Also, I don't think that even utah Mormons think of others outside their faith, dirty heathens since Mormons and catholics can work together on charity projects quite well. But as you can see, there is judgementalism in your post. You judge all Mormons as being closed minded, thinking others as dirty heathens. That was my point to zee.

It would certainly beat the meatloaf baking lessons down at BYU.
Many women have forgotten how to cook. Those lessons were responsible for great dinners at home with happy children and fathers eating good food. Can you bake a great meatloaf?

'My initial feelings about apostates and doubters' is very interesting and candid OP. My apostate cred is beyond question, has been for more than 2 decades now. I barely remember the first time that I thought I was openly communicating with apostates, much less considered myself one.
I find amusing my TBM friends and family that treat me like the leper that I must be. They feel the need to interact with me, as if their charitable duty, but you can see the horror look in their eyes--'don't get too close, it might be contagious.'
I imagine in my eyes they perceive a soulless devil, one who lives out their private fantasies and is debased because of it. They keep their distance, while extending their invitations. What's more amusing is that it is so easy to discern, without the HG or a burning bosom mind you, which ones are only going through the motions and admire the courage of the open apostate.
Former bishop bcspace, that's the look in about 3:1 of the eyes of 'TBM's that I encounter. I dare say tithing receipts are rather low at the COB these days.
Are you sure that you are not being too judgemental? I think you are. I think that you allowing your imagination get the best of you. Most people probably give you very little thought and couldn't care less that you are now an apostate.

Sorry, lol trying to use hyperbole and some sarcasm. I know for a fact not all people are the same. I was speaking of my general interactions with people being negative once they find out that I believe differently. I've had some pretty shocking and attacking people in my life recently. I find that many times people view your faith or religion much like the "halo effect" (if they look like a good person, they are a good person) but in a religious sense of someone who is religious is a good person because they are religious. I am not the right kind of religious and therefore, even on a very unconscious level, am treated differently.

I suppose you don't think it's judgmental to call someone a Taliban Mormon?

No. We live in an age of identities and descriptions. One must call a certain type of Mormon taliban if the description fits.

Are you determined to have something dense to say about every single post made, whether in jest or serious criticism or both? Too bad you can't read without your Taliban-whyme blinders or you'd have seen plenty of threads on cooking here: by both men and women! Shockers!
