Each morning, Krishnan and his team rise at 4 AM, and seek out the homeless throughout a 123-mile radius, armed with packets of hot vegetarian meals that Krishnan has prepared by hand. He brings the meals to a crowd of about 400 regulars, and gives them free haircuts and beard trims when they need it. In the years since starting the nonprofit, he’s served over 1.2 million meals.

His recipients are nearly all mentally ill, and do not have the capacity to thank him. Nonetheless, Krishnan receives great pleasure from the work he does.

“I get this energy from the people,” he said. “The food which I cook ... the enjoyment which they get is the energy. I see the soul. I want to save my people.”

We must be realistic and realise that because he hasn't received the "only true saving ordinances", that despite all of his efforts he'll still be received into a "lesser kingdom", unless, of course, he repents and gives one-tenth of all his earnings to "the only true Church on earth". And failing that, he must surely be burned.

What a pity this guy is doing all this when he could be engaged in something much more worthwhile, like Mormon apologetics.

He also indicted Christianity, in case you missed it. And he has a point - how many Christians and Mormons today are doing anything like this? (Maybe some I'm not aware of.) Instead of calling him "scum", you should be glad for the reproof. What if a Mormon said, "sorry, but from now on I'm going to donate all of my tithing to the Akshaya Trust, because I feel that's more worthwhile than multi-million dollar temples and supporting the COB and GA and academic traveling expenses"?

Yes. Of course. Tithing is for the Church to run the church. If you tithe to whomever you want then the church may not have funds to run. And then they will have to cut more than just janitors.
