1) Do you believe that God the Father is a white-haired bearded white man?

Don't know, maybe he shaved it off since 1830.

2) Do you believe that God the Father stepped down from his throne and joined with
his spirit-daughter Mary to beget Jesus in the same manner a men begets a child with a woman?

Ever hear of IVF?

3) Do you believe that the Curse of Cain Doctrine was never a doctrine of the Church but just some
"personal opinion" by a few Church leaders?

You mean as it is described in the Old Testament?

4) Do you believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth, two white people?

Adam in Hebrew means "red" and implies ruddy complexion or red headed.

5) Do you believe that Noah took all animal and reptile and insect species with him on the ark?

Perhaps. Hugh Nibley questioned the whole earth flood.

6) Do you believe that a black son of Canaan, married his sister, built a raft, and took hundreds of unique marsupial species and thousands of totally unique plant species on the raft and went to Australia?

Who knows, again, Nibley questioned the concept.

7) Do you believe that all those living in 1832 will not die until a Temple is built in Jackson County on the Temple Lot (Brigham Young, Orson Pratt, Joseph Fielding Smith, and Bruce R. McConkie believed this)?

Similar statements were contained in the New Testament about the second Coming.

8) Do you believe that perhaps a million Nephites, men women and children, died at the Hill Cumorah near Palmyra, New YOrk, during the final Nephite/Lamanite battle?

No idea the number, racial composition of the mass of people or the location.

9) Do you believe that the millions of Nephite horses, oxen, cows, sheep, and goats, all died out without one "bone" remaining to prove they ever existed?

We have no idea what animals were described or which ones were cultivated to a degree. We know the Egyptians had camels, but rarely depicted them as they were considered labor devices.

10) Do you believe that God went "poof" and changed the white-skinned-hairy-round-eyed-curly-haired Jewish Lamanites into the smooth-skinned-asian-eyed-dark-skinned-straight-haired Lamanites?

I believe there are two explanations possible. The first is that the Nephites who departed from God simply intermarried into indigenous tribes and thus "turned" dark. Traditionally, ruling classes in Egypt married family members to keep their races separate from the general population and from what I understand the Inca did the same. This is why, in a war, if one kills off the ruling families then the population would follow you. Sort of like if the Chinese had come into Latin America in 1900, slaughtered the white elite ruling Peru, and assumed power. The average Indian would not have cared. The other possibility should not astound people of today. Only a few genes are responsible for skin color and with simple genetic manipulation our scientists can do today an embryo can have its race "changed." Why could not God do that? Seems less impressive nowadays as it might have been back in the 19th. Century.

I used to believe all that crap. Well, maybe not the part about those in the 1800's surviving until a temple was built or the Australian raft part, but, yes, shamefully, all the rest.

Where was my crap detector when I needed it?

That is EXACTLY what I believed too! And I did a pro-Mormon cassette tape once, about 1986, teaching exactly this. Did you hear my tape, or come up with this on your own?

10) Do you believe that God went "poof" and changed the white-skinned-hairy-round-eyed-curly-haired Jewish Lamanites into the smooth-skinned-asian-eyed-dark-skinned-straight-haired Lamanites?

Adam means, quite literally, "man."

While both the words for "man" and "red" are written the same way in Hebrew (Aleph, Daleth, Mem) no speaker of Hebrew makes the (false) connection that Adam would have had red hair. The words are pronounced differently for that reason.

Just from a strict reading of the Biblical text, there's more "proof" that Esau had red hair, than there is for Adam having red hair.

How I would answer when I was more TBM then NOM:

1) Do you believe that God the Father is a white-haired bearded white man?

had no idea. I know how the temple showed God and Jesus but figured that was artistic liberty.

2) Do you believe that God the Father stepped down from his throne and joined with
his spirit-daughter Mary to beget Jesus in the same manner a men begets a child with a woman?

Growing up in the 60s and 70s yes it was taught that God had sex with Mary. It was in I believe a 1972 FHE manual and other comments by many leaders. See here:

http://www.Bible.ca/mor-god-had-sex-with-mary.htm

3) Do you believe that the Curse of Cain Doctrine was never a doctrine of the Church but just some
"personal opinion" by a few Church leaders?

It certainly was taught like it was doctrine. We did not think it was speculative opinion.

4) Do you believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth, two white people

Yes the first humans on earth.

5) Do you believe that Noah took all animal and reptile and insect species with him on the ark?

Yes a literal world wide flood.

6) Do you believe that a black son of Canaan, married his sister, built a raft, and took hundreds of unique marsupial species and thousands of totally unique plant species on the raft and went to Australia?

Never heard of this.

7) Do you believe that all those living in 1832 will not die until a Temple is built in Jackson County on the Temple Lot (Brigham Young, Orson Pratt, Joseph Fielding Smith, and Bruce R. McConkie believed this)

I have seen such quotes but it was never taught as doctrine that I am aware of.

8) Do you believe that perhaps a million Nephites, men women and children, died at the Hill Cumorah near Palmyra, New YOrk, during the final Nephite/Lamanite battle?

I knew some who believed that and others that held to a two Cumorah theory. I do not think the Church had an official position on this.

9) Do you believe that the millions of Nephite horses, oxen, cows, sheep, and goats, all died out without one "bone" remaining to prove they ever existed?

Never thought much about it.

10) Do you believe that God went "poof" and changed the white-skinned-hairy-round-eyed-curly-haired Jewish Lamanites into the smooth-skinned-asian-eyed-dark-skinned-straight-haired Lamanites?

Never thought much about it.

Why do you think that Latter-day Saints won't answer these questions?

darricktevenson wrote:1) Do you believe that God the Father is a white-haired bearded white man?

I typically imagine God has a white-bearded man. And yes, I imagine him as white, but not as Caucasian. I have no idea of my imaginings are correct and I won't be devastated if it turns out that God is clean-shaven when I meet him.

2) Do you believe that God the Father stepped down from his throne and joined with
his spirit-daughter Mary to beget Jesus in the same manner a men begets a child with a woman?

I'm unsure but open to the idea.

3) Do you believe that the Curse of Cain Doctrine was never a doctrine of the Church but just some
"personal opinion" by a few Church leaders?

I believe it was a doctrine being taught by Church leaders because it was their near-universal personal opinion.

4) Do you believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth, two white people?

No.

5) Do you believe that Noah took all animal and reptile and insect species with him on the ark?[/quote

No.

6) Do you believe that a black son of Canaan, married his sister, built a raft, and took hundreds of unique marsupial species and thousands of totally unique plant species on the raft and went to Australia?

No.

7) Do you believe that all those living in 1832 will not die until a Temple is built in Jackson County on the Temple Lot (Brigham Young, Orson Pratt, Joseph Fielding Smith, and Bruce R. McConkie believed this)?

Obviously they're already dead. CfR that JFS and BRM believed this.

8) Do you believe that perhaps a million Nephites, men women and children, died at the Hill Cumorah near Palmyra, New YOrk, during the final Nephite/Lamanite battle?

Probably not in NY, no.

9) Do you believe that the millions of Nephite horses, oxen, cows, sheep, and goats, all died out without one "bone" remaining to prove they ever existed?

Nope, I don't.

10) Do you believe that God went "poof" and changed the white-skinned-hairy-round-eyed-curly-haired Jewish Lamanites into the smooth-skinned-asian-eyed-dark-skinned-straight-haired Lamanites?

No.

I once believed all this when I was a young Mormon man. Then, I grew up.

Is that what growing up entails?

Adam and Eve weren't the first Homo sapiens, therefore they didn't exist. Noah couldn't have actually taken every species of animal onto an ark, therefore the Bible is bogus. You imagined God as a Caucasian, therefore Mormonism is a farse.

It sounds like you still have some growing up to do.

If you mean had sex as we would, then no.

3) Do you believe that the Curse of Cain Doctrine was never a doctrine of the Church but just some

No.

4) Do you believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth, two white people?

I believe Adam was the first man of all men, of the race of Adam. I don't know what color his skin was.

5) Do you believe that Noah took all animal and reptile and insect species with him on the ark?

Nope.

6) Do you believe that a black son of Canaan, married his sister, built a raft, and took hundreds of unique marsupial species and thousands of totally unique plant species on the raft and went to Australia?

No.

Yes.

Not likely, but not sure.

9) Do you believe that the millions of Nephite horses, oxen, cows, sheep, and goats, all died out without one "bone" remaining to prove they ever existed?

I don't believe there were millions so not sure why I would think there are all these bones somewhere.

Congrats on not being very bright I guess.

Then, I grew up.

This has not been proven or even suggested by anything you've posted on this board.
