Utah-based Deseret Management Corp. has entered into an agreement to sell 17 of its Bonneville International radio stations in four cities across the United States.
DMC, a for-profit arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will sell stations in St. Louis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C., to Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. Under terms of the purchase agreement, Minneapolis-based Hubbard will acquire the stations for $505 million.

Re: Signs of Financial Trouble? (link)
I think we are beginning to see the direct results of the Hinkley expansionism. Simple fact, temples cost money and lots of it! They do not bring in any money at all. So now the Sunday School is using an old manual, priesthood and RS are using one manual for two years study, in Brazil there are no more janitors in ward buildings instead a constant call for volunteers to clean the buildings, obligatory lunches for missionaries, volunteers for material labor like laundry, gardening, etc at the temples. I think it is time we face the awful reality of a worldwide financial recession and stop building more temples, we have enough for now. Most the temples in Brazil are never at even 50% capacity so why buld more? I know that it is inconvenient for member to travel long distance to go to the temple but since when are we now a church of convenience? I agree with volunteering time for the sick and poor or for spiritual work but people in Brazil need jobs for temporal weel being. A security guard is not a spiritual position nor is a janitor or gardener. The head of the Church Educational System is a spiritual position and should be volunteer but it is not and is VERY well paid. The temple recorder is also spiritual and should be volunteer but is not. Food for Thought

Has the paragraph not reached Brazil yet?
Let me break up your thoughts and responses...
Think about it. What are the members constantly told they must do? Redeem the dead.
Where? At the temple.
Where are the members required to marry(only if they want to reach the highest kingdom of heaven)? The temple.
What kind of underwear are members required to wear to show their devotion to the Mormon God? Beehive produced temple garments, a.k.a. garmies, jesus jammies, chapel chaps.
Where do you initially get permission to wear these special undies? The temple.
So Mormons are required to go to the temple often. What must they posses to get in the temple? Temple recommend.
How much does this recommend cost? 10% of your income.
Better yet on the temples, why not just convert the barely used gymnasiums to temporary temples at all of the hardly used stake centers?? Now you would have temples on every corner, well at least in Happy Valley Utah..
