Revelations are what religious people call accurate predictions in hindsight.
"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. ... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith, 1844

It always seems pretentious to claim the choice for picking someone for a Church job is always due to an inspiration from God. Makes it seem like God hands out both good and bad advice.

So did I. I remember reading an ensign article in which some said the same thing about how they knew they had received revelation.

The logical conclusion there is that revelation, even when claimed by sincere people, amounts to a load of bull. Grabbing the first thing that comes to mind and attributing it to God is the result of fuzzy thinking. Mormons and many other religious folk are trained to be fuzzy thinkers.
Considering the article and other teachings within the Church, that doesn't seem to be the case. The article taught that to receive revelation on every thing would be a deniall of agency. Plus we have D&C 58 which tells us essentially the same thing.
This is just yet more evidence that antiMormonism is an advocate of Satan's plan, the removal of agency and trials. It is evident whenever one hears the complaint of why doesn't the Lord just tell us or what new revelation has been received.

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

It's only revelation if it agrees with the Brethren.
Otherwise it's Satan's whispers.
Otherwise it's Satan's whispers.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Like when my TBM daughter's bishop called her into his office a couple of weeks ago to tell her that he had a calling for her. She replied: "I'm moving out of the ward in about 4 weeks."
I'd love to ask her and my (mostly TBM) wife what they think of his inspiration, but I know that they would have to find an excuse for him and I don't want them to feel bad.

I don't get how revelation takes away agency. I would think that Jesus got a lot of revelation. He must have had no agency. Joe Smith got a lot of revelation. He must have had no agency. All those prophets who wrote your scriptures had no agency. Apostates who can't have the spirit must have the most agency. Keep your revelation and I'll keep my agency and I won't blame successes or failures on God. It's all me and my agency.
I'm the apostate your bishop warned you about.

Orson Scott Card may be a fine writer of fiction, but he comes off as a pompous ass and a crank in his opinion pieces, this one included.
