Mis-read... thought it said f***ing: the test of faith . . . and thought it was finally an explanation of Joseph Smiths womanizing and sexual predatory actions.

However, I see your point in terms of a child/adult distinction, though it breaks down in matters between intelligent adults (as is the case here).

Let's take another example. Many Mormons believe in the traditional Book of Mormon model. In fact, many Amerindians derive an identity from the belief that they are primarily descendants of Father Lehi. What say you of those who become educated towards a more supportable LGT and their views about the inherent flaws in the beliefs of those who hold to the traditional model?
"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. ... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith, 1844

Wouldn't this be an example of flunking the Meldrum test of faith?
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."
I think I passed the test of faith. The correct answer is:
Don't let crazy people influence you.

I see your point. However, your analogy speaks to two differing, non-salvific, adult LDS beliefs, and not about failing the test of LDS faith, and is thus irrelevant to the point I was making.
But, feel free to keep trying. Your questions are insightful.
