There is no question in my mind that he just straight up pretended he was the person in the manual. And to be honest, it doesn't really bother me. It didn't bother me then. Even at 10 years old, I kind of thought, oh, that's a good way to get your point across.

Mostly, this memory re-surfaced because of all the discussion on the Nelson airplane thread (the one that just hit over 100 pages). I actually defended Nelson pretty strongly over there. I posted this because I found the recall of the memory interesting from the perspective of the Nelson story.

I got you, saw your comments too. I still think the validity of the story doesn't matter at all. Its the moral lesson that needs some critiques.
