Re: How Many Times Have You Read The Book of Mormon?
I voted for more than 20. I think it's somewhere hovering near 30, but who can tell at this point? It's just an estimate.
Just when I think I can't learn anything new from the Book of Mormon, I read it again and find new depths.
I have trouble squaring a purely natural production method for a book that continues to yield such deep and rewarding insights to me on the 30th reading.
I am convinced the Book of Mormon will wear me out long before I wear it out.
Results may vary.
All the Best!

:). Even in my teens, the Elizabethan English put me off from the start. Seemed a little pretentious.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I'm sure I can claim twice cover to cover. I've started many more times than that. I have studied by theme or by opening up to something more often. While studying my way out I probably read most of it, along with a lot of Bible and all of D&C and Book of Abraham.

Especially when they all climax with God telling people to flee into the wilderness to found a new society. (I distinctly remember hitting the fifth or sixth example of this and thinking, "Geez, not again! Is this God's answer for everything?")

That's what happens when people open up the book with an open mind.
My first time, I was so disgusted with it that I threw it across the room. The racism, the murder of Laban, sections from the Bible distorted for a different meaning, anti-Catholicism, that was enough to make me want to give up.
I didn't know that it contains some good stuff starting at about half-way through. I should have started with the little books between Jacob and Mosiah. Not many books start out that bad, and end up having some real strengths.

Yes, and the Mormon god's answer was used last in getting "the saints" to flee Illinois, travel west, and settle in what is now Utah.

That's why it is required reading for TBMs. Slog through until maybe you find something interesting.
Oh, if only we had those lost 116-pages. It might have had a real attention grabbing beginning.

That perhaps explains more than we were wondering about you.
