I'd vote for it if that were the Republican ticket but a Palin-Bachman ticket seems more properly conservative. I know I know, the rest of the nation has difficultly accepting women as candidates.......

One would think a non-Mormon would be a necessary balancing the ticket move to not drive down Republican base turnout. The fraction of evangelicals who would be unenthused about going to vote for a Mormon could mean the difference when elections are won or lost at the margins.

You know, what became Tea Party started out as an outgrowth of Ron Paulite movement, but quickly morphed into a more broad coalition of anti-Obama types not quite comfortable with the Republican party. This was then astro-turfed like crazy by insider Republican interests fearful of a third party challenge. From there it became an uneasy grouping of mainly 1/3rd Ron Paulish libertarian conservatives and 2/3rd Palin-Bachmann types who have wildly differing ideas on the scope and role of government, especially as it relates to civil rights and foreign policy. It wasn't some sort of coherent ideological movement so much as a humorous mish-mash of conservative odd-couples. Anyway, overtime, the polling data suggests that the Palin-Bachmann wing has swallowed that movement whole after a long stretch of being the media face of it.

Where am I going with this?

Nowhere, really. But I thought this video was hysterical.

...

Bah. I can find a video at the moment. Here's a link to the story:

http://ricochet.com/main-feed/Pot-Legal ... arty-Rally

Gary Johnson, the most libertarian governor in recent American history by a long-stretch, was giving a speech at a Tea Party rally. (He might be running for president in 2012). He was asked if he supports marijuana legalization. He said yes. Mind you, ending the drug war, much advocating less pot legalization, is one of the tippy-top issues that drives contemporary libertarian ideals for reform. The Tea Party crowd booed the bejeezus out of him for that and heckled him when he tried to make a case for it on the basis of the immense fortune prosecuting the drug war against pot costs. Ladies and Gentleman, the Tea Party. Not so libertarian at this point.

You must want Obama to win because a Palin-Bachman ticket has no chance. None.

Palin-Bachman winning would be the proof that there is no god...

This ticket would have exactly zero chance (IMHO)

And I will be willing to wager my left testicle that I am right!

You think a Romney ticket could, given the evangelical dislike of Mormons?

I agree. I could (and perhaps would) vote for a ticket that included Huntsman, top or bottom. But Romney, he's phonier than a three dollar bill. No vote from me if he's on the ticket.
