But the next day he still welcomed some of them tar and feather chaps into the church. What a sweetie. I wonder how you morally superior guys would handle that sitch. Probably not so well? I don't know if you guys are like STS says, fighting any stupid position that aligns with your side you can or not. I doubt it for osme, some others I guess i wouldn't be surprised.

You sound seriously angry now. Why is that? I've said my piece. I don't believe his behavior measures up to what I have been taught my entire life and what I have tried to live. If that makes me "morally superior," that's of no consequence to me. He may have been the nicest guy in the world, nicer than I am. He might have been more generous than I am. So, in those respects he might be better than me. So what?

And yes, he did suffer some (six months in a miserable jail is no picnic), but in general he got out of every bad situation he was in. I was just saying I think he probably thought he would get out of Carthage OK, too. Again, that's no excuse for people shooting him.

Would it be safe to say that you have higher moral standards than someone who sleeps with other women behind his wife's back?

Got me. I'm not angry at all.

I've said my piece. I don't believe his behavior measures up to what I have been taught my entire life and what I have tried to live. huh...that's my point. So what? But I was just curious. Ol' STS tried to put me through the ringer on it, so I felt it okay to ask. I guess not.

And yes, he did suffer some (six months in a miserable jail is no picnic), but in general he got out of every bad situation he was in. I was just saying I think he probably thought he would get out of Carthage OK, too. Again, that's no excuse for people shooting him.

Alright. So you agree he didn't always get away with things as you said?

I never said he got away with anything (interesting how you misread that). I said he got out of trouble each time and probably thought Carthage would be no different.

What does that matter? I was merely commenting that its good you guys are able to feel comfort for telling yourselves you ain't as bad as another. I fear pepole have missed my point now, with all these irrelevant questions and comments. Oh well. as to your question...I don't care. Its not my place to make the determination.

If nothing else, you may be the least judgmental Mormon I have ever met. Kudos.

Sorry stemelbow, maybe you missed my post above. I usually don't respond by breaking up the original comment so I'm a little rusty on laying it out right and closing all the quotes to make it flow right. I fixed it.
