On the face of it? No. I did really believe in Joseph's claims, but then I spent time and effort to study and ponder and pray, after which I concluded that his claims were problematic, and many of them were demonstrably untrue.

Personally, I think that when the evidence and your conscience points you in a direction different from the one you started from, it's not only admirable, but necessary, to follow the evidence and your conscience, even if that means turning 180 degrees. To continue in a path that you consider false would be kind of stupid.

Well lookie there...I agree with ya. Its much more admirable to leave if you don't believe, then to pretend to believe in order to stay.

Why waste my time with you anymore? Apparently either you cannot read or to accept that these men said what they said will rock your boat too much. And it was not just four quotes over 50 years. These comments were made frequently. Other leaders made them and others quoted them. Leaders and teachers in wards used them to teach chastity as well, ferquently. And still do at times.

Yep. We know what we were taught regularly and frequently (and my daughter tells me that she was taught the same thing at "standards night" recently), so there's no point in arguing about it.

Just to clarify I did not in any way suggest you were never taught it. I'm merely commenting on the quotes offered and how they relate to the original claim. I accept without reservation that you were taught it by someone.
