Where C=Christ; J=Joseph Smith; G=God; M= Muhammad
G = Judaism
G+C = Christianity
G+C+M = Islam
G+C+J = Mormonism
Notice that G+C is never = Mormonism.
Nor does G = Mormonism
Nor G+C+M = Mormonism
The single factor to Mormonism is J.
You could also show G+J = Mormonism; C+J = Mormonism; J = Mormonism
...although the version of Mormonism changes.
Y
Thus the most important factor is J.
Where C=Christ; J=Joseph Smith; G=God; M= Muhammad T= Truth
G = Judaism
G+C = Christianity
G+C+M = Islam
G+C+J+T = Mormonism
There fixed! :D

I meant my straight-shooting comment as snarky one. In that I do not intend you're being intentionally deceptive. My apologies if that's how it was taken.

beefcalf wrote:Exactly. The Atonement.
Which is the exact same central belief in all ten-thousand sects of Christianity.
His point is: 'What is unique about the LDS religion?' Answer: Joseph Smith.
EVERY OTHER CHRISTIAN SECT has the atonement. Only the Latter-Day Saint movement, the Brighamites in particular, look to Smith as their prophet.
Well he chimed in to talk about my comments. if his intent was merely to say there are variations among different sects of Christianity, then who cares? Such was not my point at all. he went off topic. Silly either way.

Now that math works. But we all know there is some level of truth among them all (-;

Okay, stemelbow cannot cite anything in the Book of Mormon that is unique to the LDS Church.
Is there anyone else who can?

I offered something in regards to this pointless endeavor. I posted it this morning at 9:31 am.
The whole Lehi expedition, the jaredites and all, are unique things found in the Book of Mormon but not necessarily unique to the one Church. Anywho....what's the point? To what end do you demand such things? LDS simply don't use the book to explain the "unique" teachings of the Church. that's not its purpose. It is to teach the central focus of the gospel, essentially.

Someone? Anyone?
Also, is there anyone who can avoid unintentionally admitting that everything beyond the Book of Mormon is superfluous since Christ and the Atonement are "the central focus of the gospel"?
"LDS simply don't use the book to explain the "unique" teachings of the Church."
Who would like to start the betting pool about how long stemelbow is going to continue arguing that I am being deceptive about a point that he conceded?

Nice try...DDDD..DJ. Just because the Atonement is the central focus of the gospel, or is the gospel, there is no reason to assume there is nothing more than that in the Book of Mormon. I've already offered some thoughts about how the Book of Mormon adds to our understanding of the Atonement.
"LDS simply don't use the book to explain the "unique" teachings of the Church."
That wasn't what you said. You had said the importance of the book is in its existence rather than its teachings, in the LDS Church's view. A far cry, DJ.

I doubt your critic-buddies will role their eyes, but I figure most people who will see this reasonably would.

Everyone who bet "1 time" is now a winner.
