What makes people sexual predators?

my wife asked me this but I have no answer. Any studies out there? The dad of the Mormon 5 Browns seems he had everything going. It's a shock to hear the news about him. As I continue to hear stories like this, I continue to wonder.

As a TBM, I was taught that porn starts you on the path. I think it must be more complicated than that. Is there anything observed that tends to lead to this destructive behavior?

I used to work with sex offenders. Sexual predators feel powerless in their lives and use sexual deviancy as a way to gain power. It's all about a need for power and control. All of the offenders I worked with had messed up home lives and upbringings. It used to be thought that most sex offenders had been offended upon when they were young, but studies now show that's not necessarily the case. The offender probably had an upbringing where he was made to feel powerless. I say he, because virtually all sex offenders are male.

Whoever Fights Monsters, is one of the best books I've read on the psychology and causes of sexual deviancy. It's a book about serial killers, but almost all serial killers are sexual predators.

I agree! And, being the evil apostate that I am, I will even boldy and unapologetically say that Mormonism is the perfect breeding ground for sexual predatory(ness).
