Are these two books the same?

Post by _LDSToronto »

All, I'm building my library - are 'Extensions of Power' and 'Origins of Power' by D.M. Quinn both worth getting, or is one a subset of the other?

Quick answer, please - want to place an order today.

They are a chronological series: Origins is vol 1, Extensions is vol 2. Both are very worth it for the notes and bibliography alone.

Money would be better spent on a Liahona Subscription from the Maxwell Institute.

But be forewarned: The author is gay.

Worse than that, he projects his homosexual and magical fantasies onto LDS history.

As opposed to the faith-promoting fantasies, right?

One of the nice things about critical reading is that it allows you to cut through the biases in every writer and gain knowledge.

Both books are full of information and references you can check out. Well worth the cost to own them.

Be aware the Author was voted best professor(or something like that) at BYU and had access to the First Presidency Vaults for research as part of the lds-inc church historians office. That was when someone in lds-inc actually came up with the hair brained idea that The Truth was something to be researched and it would stand the light of day. (those ideas have since been flushed with Boyd's little factory production schedule)

I have read the first one and want to get the second.
