"You didn't used to have to move into a mansion after you got married," adds Terry Smith, his wife of 37 years and the mother of his 12 children.

Something tells me that Smith does not live in reality.

The cure for Mr. Smith is seeing what goes on in families that are different from his mold. My dad used to think like him, specifically about programs like head start. Then my sister and her four kids were left without a husband, and they had to move back in with my parents. Now she is going back to school and relying on programs like head start to help make this possible. The woman's place cannot always be in the home. It just can't be, even if you idealize it as being so.

No, they just don't feel they have to live like everyone else or take on inordinate debt. Plus I'll bet his children are more likely to grow up to be tax paying citizens (and opposed to socialism) than the average. Bravo for Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It's a promising background for someone in government.

You realize, of course, that the church (and Mr Smith) have their butts covered on this, since they officially encourage young women to get a degree, so if their husband somehow disappears from the picture, the young woman will not then be a drain on society, since she will have an education and can therefore get a job. Or at least, that's how it's supposed to work... in today's economy, of course, it doesn't work like Mr Smith or the church would like it to.

Completely agree with what he said about mothers of young children staying home with them.

Disagree with the way he presented to the HS parents as well as the cuts for the HS Program.

The way the article is written is dishonest.

Yes. And what it's used for.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
