Then the same holds true for those who claim something is true, they must prove it conclusively.

So, you don't believe what the jokers who stand up in fast meeting say as a Testimony?

In a way yes. However, when it comes to religion, people depend on the holy ghost to confirm truth. Also, it is one thing to know and quite another thing to believe. Members should claim: I believe the church to be true. And not the verb 'to know'.

Critics as merc make a claim that they know that the lds church is untrue. And they state it as if the lds church has been proven to be untrue which is of course not true.

I'm a little frustrated with how this thread has turned into a "prove the Church is true or untrue" thread.

The topic is Merc's video. I think that he did a great job with influencing Mormons and ex-Mormons alike to extend the olive branch to family members.

It's a great first step. Does anyone have ideas on how this type of thing can continue?

He claimed the lds church is not true. In fact, we don't know if it is true or not. It has not been proven untrue. He made a statement that is false. Maybe he should have said: In my opinion, the lds church is not true. But then again, all critics should say: In my opinion...

Maybe the olive branch is: Respect each other's opinion.

I have a proposal. When Monson starts prefacing all of his comments with "In my opinion...", I will do the same when I make any comments about Mormonism. Deal?

You are a broken record. I hear people say they know the church is true all the time. Maybe they should respect others opinions about it. He stated his opinion that the church has been proven false, and I would agree. One does not have to say my opinion. Sure there are some who don't agree. Not my problem, but why should he have to say In my opinion when you will not do it. I think you are being a little hypocritical.

Very few religious leaders will come out and say that their church is false or not true. However, it is up to you to prove the lie. And if a person states that the lds church is false, they must prove it. Monson has faith that his church is true. What proof do you have that it is not?

If the lds church has been proven false, it would fall like a house of cards. Innuendos or hypotheticals don't cut it. In the celestial forum, the debate still rages as to whom wrote the Book of Mormon. Still no proof from either side...the daleites, the vogelites etc.

The LDS church has not been proven true, until something is conclusively proven true it remains, not true. What proof do you have that the Theory of Mormonism is true?

The catholic church believes that it is the true church. What proof is there that it is true? None.
