I think another common reason is serving a mission. That's where my questions took hold as doubts, doubts that at first I masked by my own brand of apologetics that continued for a time after I returned from the mission. But the point came that I realized I was simply lying to myself in trying to cling to belief in Mormonism. Some associates told me that they could detect I was on the fast track to apostasy, from the first time they saw me after my return. I became ever more ardent as an apologist the more my own doubts grew, until I was nearly shrill in my pursuit of explanations for the unexplainable.

Hell is the only guaranteed way but trying to sell your soul at that point is probably unwise as it depreciates after death in most cases.

Did your friend have a "crossroads" sort of thing, or did he have to drive to Vegas? I've been assured that Satan has offices there.

I didn't ask; the guy was a raving loon.

I don't believe in Satan, but the myth has always interested me.

Me too. I've grown less interested the more I learn though.

I hope your friend got it all in writing.

I'm not sure he was literate.

What lawyer would you hire to sue Satan for breach of contract?

I would contact the Committee for Licensed Infernal Trading Oral Records Internal Services division (CLITORIS).

My guess is that Satan already has all the best lawyers under permanent retainer.

Not all. Though many are going to perdition most have realized they are going to supplant him in the afterlife and are jockeying to make sure they rule over the embodied damned.

LMAO at anyone who believes they "deserved" a certain calling.

I don't know what makes you so sure that a bishop believes you, simply because you deny masturbating. If you gave a dishonest answer, then bear in mind that bishops are human, and they can't "discern" everything and always be right. He'd probably say to himself something like, "well if he's lying, then that's between himself and God". God isn't going to intervene in every situation. Judas was, after all, an apostle. Jesus could have exposed and expunged him from day one.

The most common reason I'm aware of has to do with milk strippings. We all, of course, know that Mormons love milk. And we likewise know that ex-Mormons love to sneak away milk strippings.

Precisely why the question doesn't need to be asked.
