Will Schryver's Benefactor

The recent Schryver debacle has had me thinking. In the course of a conversation with one of my colleagues at Cassius, it became apparent that something is afoot. I'm sure that most of us are quite curious about Schryver's "rise to power" within the ranks of FARMS-style apologetics. Most notably, it is beyond bizarre that he would have been given access to some of the most closely guarded documents in all of Mormondom.
Obviously, it seems a stretch to think that Schryver accomplished all of this on his own. Someone very powerful is likely is looking out for him. Plus, given his "loose cannon" status, you kind of have to think that someone is pulling strings. There *must* be some reason why DCP (and all the other key Mopologetic Power Players) have allowed Schryver to continue in light of his many gaffes and boners.
So I'm curious: Who do you think is Schryver's "benefactor"? Who is the Person in Power who has helped "Wilbur" to become arguably the most important last line of defense in the Book of Abraham battle?

I ask this partly out of ignorance (having spent so much time in the boiler room of Cassius). Could it be that the LDS church is a little on the reckless side when it comes to finding apologetic supporters? Could it be that the loose cannon is safer than a detail oriented historian like Quinn? I see Quinn-types as a serious problem for Mormon apologetics. My simple thoughts coming out of a hot, steamy, obscure room in the basement of a grand college.

We only have Will's word about this. And I tend to take Will's word with a very large grain of salt.

He became a Master Magician of the Third Ring of Apologetics? Crap, I've been trying to achieve that for years.
Most notably, it is beyond bizarre that he would have been given access to some of the most closely guarded documents in all of Mormondom.
Why? He wanted to study them.

Probably the Illuminati.

A status he holds here and pretty much nowhere else? The esteem of an obscure message board with a few dozen regularly active participants? Indeed, he must be judged by all to be a "loose cannon".
There *must* be some reason why DCP (and all the other key Mopologetic Power Players) have allowed Schryver to continue in light of his many gaffes and boners.
All their attempts at blackmail and abducting his children as hostages have been foiled? If only there was a more....permanent solution they could use.....
So I'm curious: Who do you think is Schryver's "benefactor"?
A figment of your imagination.
Who is the Person in Power who has helped "Wilbur" to become arguably the most important last line of defense in the Book of Abraham battle?
Lord Xenu. I hear he's in power.

Hi, Zeez. I don't think there is such a thing as a "safer" Mopologist. It seems to me that Richard Bushman is about as "safe" as you can get, apologetics-wise, and yet my understanding is that there was deep concern among the Brethren about his publication of
Rough Stone Rolling.

Probably the Illuminati.
So does this clue point to Royal Skousen?

I doubt it but his reptilian doppelganger might be involved.

I thought you were his reptilian doppelganger.

We're ignoring the very likely possibility that he has none.
The only evidence that one exists is Will Schryver's assertions. And we all know how he exaggerates or flat out lies, just to make himself feel important. Now there is no doubt Will has been doing some serious ass kissing just to get scholars at BYU, to take a look at his whacked out apologetic theories. But the extent in which they agree with him is completely unknown until one of them publishes something in support of his arguments. I don't expect to see anything like that any time soon.

Well, Kevin, I personally have no problem with reframing things so that "Benefactor" actually means "The Person at the M.I. Whose Butt Will Kissed So Much that This Person Now Helps Will Out From Time to Time."
But what do you make of the fact that Will was given access to the KEP materials? And what about the fact that Will delivered Gee's presentation for Gee at the most recent FAIR Conference?
