A Possible Solution to the Mormon non-marrying Crisis
Mormon men are not getting married soon enough. These selfish laggards are postponing a key ingredient to The Plan. Can't have that.
Conservative politicians are always raving about tax incentives. Give the rich a tax break and they will trickle all over the place. Maybe this could work for marriage as well.
What about a ten year tithing moratorium for Newlyweds who stay together during that time? That might do the trick. Blessings can be contingent upon getting sealed then staying together, rather than through cash.
Would this work? Do you have an even better proposal that does not involve guilt and coercion?

Oh, I have a better idea: reinstate polygamy. If the young men see old dudes taking all the young girls, that will get their rears in gear.
Heaven forbid that LDS wait until their mid-twenties to get married. My god, it's the end of the world.
(PS, I just read the other thread on this, and see my polygamy idea was already brought up by Fiann- who was probably serious!)

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Could that extend to parents of the bride and groom, too? Since my daughter is getting married this summer, I would love that scenario! LOL

With all due respect, I am curious if most LDS single adults are celibate?
Because if they are, and that isn't incentive enough for them to get married, then I don't know what else the Church leaders can do.

I was celibate until I was 31, when I married. In some ways painful but in other ways freeing. I maintain to this day there are pros and cons. I very much enjoyed being single and celibate.

I think the ease of accessing porn on the internet may be a factor. Sure, internet porn and a date with your hand may not be as incredible as the real thing, but I'm betting it could keep many a young man satisfied for a few more years until he finds Mrs. Ten.

Maybe they are holding out for the touchable hologram. Is it sinning if your partner is a hologram?
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

So, just so I'm clear, you were a virgin till you were 31?
I'm completely serious when I say, I think that explains a lot. It's just not healthy to be a virgin at that age.
I'm quite convinced Nehor, for example, is 12 short of a baker's dozen primarily because he needs to get laid and just can't find the right man.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

haha
I can think of at least one other apologist on this board who might fit that category.
:D
Yes, for those of us who had a healthy libido, and a strong desire to obey the law of chastity, marriage was the only solution. And quickly!
I never enjoyed being celibate. I wasn't blessed with a low libido I guess. If one could call that a blessing?
Clearly the leaders and parents aren't promoting the obey-guilt-chastity-marriage program strongly enough to achieve the desired marital goals. Back in my single day they had it down to an art-form.

Sure was...all the way till a month and a half after my 31st birthday.

I'm actually quite healthy. It seems your theory is problematic on that basis alone.

pep pep...too bad you aren't qualified to make such diagnoses, huh?
