So much fun - you've seriously got to be f*****g kidding. Kids have consciences regardless of religious upbringing, you dumb ass. They can all relate to the idea of Jimminy Cricket - perhaps other than the sociopaths, who are incurable regardless of religious education. What my kids might lose, perhaps, is a sense of chosenness and entitlement that would lead to justification for mistreatment of others, or gaining an advantage, when the counterparty is not of their faith.
Which means that Mormonism is not responsible for guilt. It is human to feel guilt. However, we in the west can not escape our judeo/christian heritage and Bible tradition. We also need to remember that Americans have been culturally influenced by the puritans.

And if these kids do the things that go against the way they have been raised do they feel guilt? Most likely yes. That is my point.

Peace,

And to bring it all back to John, I believe that if John left the church, he would still value those family Mormon values that he was raised with and raise his children accordingly. He will not raise guilt free or conscience free children.

I would say avoid having sex until you are in a committed, loving, long-term relationship and are a legal adult - and yes, use protection.
I think any guilt-based religion has the potential to cause harm to young people.
And it is here that your secular based Mormonism is influencing you. Most teenagers do not bother to think about such things and parents seem to have very little say in the matter. For teenagers, when they feel 'love', they usually have sex. And every relationship is long term until it ends in a month or two.
The
2006-2008 National Survey of Family Growth show that what why me posted is nothing more than the projection of the ugliness of his own heart and mind (a mind he has shown over and over to reside in the gutter) on any one not Mormon. He does this constantly non Mormons don't (really) care about their families, they're drunks, spend their time on porno, they fornicate, commit adultery, and if they are not doing these things now they're working on doing them later. I do notice that he doesn't seem to accuse them of cheating people out of their savings or outright stealing. Why is that?

Whyme is a divorced father. I don't know what the circumstances leading up to his divorce from the Mormon woman, nor do I know what the situation is with his children.
Whyme is a completely inactive Mormon.
Whyme admits he uses porn on regular basis.
Whyme defends Mormonism, bashes on Catholicism, yet attends the Catholic services.
Whyme spends countless hours on these boards accomplishing zilch. Hell, he isn't even funny.
Are you even employed whyme? Fulltime?
Whyme is good at one thing. Being a hypocrite.

I never admitted to watching porn. I am not a totally inactive Mormon. I don't bash catholicism but I do point out the hypocrisy of catholic defenders who bash Mormonism. I freely adimitted that I attend catholic services and defend the lds church. No hypocrisy there.
But nice try PP. Have a good day.

Let me try this again for the semi learned: I attended the catholic church as a boy and was raised a catholic. I attended catechism and mass every sunday. What I learned in the catholic church will be with me for the rest of my life regardless of my station in that church. When I raised my children there was a mixture of Mormonism and catholicism in moral values. In fact, they are one and the same. Both churches had a direct impact on the father that I am. It would not matter if I were an atheist right now. I could never escape the influence of both churches. America is a judeochristian nation very much influenced by puritan values. Even the the most die hard atheist can not escape such values when raising their children but they can be bad parents in all faiths and belief systems.
And that is my point with the former Mormons here. They also can not escape the Mormon influence on family values as fathers and mothers.

Mormon leaders push heavy, heavy guilt trips on church youth. Since you were never a Mormon, you wouldn't know.

That is a funny story.
Their blocked IP list must be enormous.
The truth must be protected and defended ya know. (little heavy on the protected, not so much on the defended)
