The biggest defenders the most afraid?

Are the biggest defenders of Mormonism those most afraid it is really a sham? They are strident and shrill in denouncing anyone who asks questions and are like brown shirts or red guards in their zeal to protect the 'truth' by yelling over anyone who does not agree with them.
Are they so afraid of the truth that they totally ignore it to stay in their little world of beliefs even as those beliefs change from prophet to prophet? Even as the definitive statements of earlier prophets are now totally ignored and even said to be apostate teachings?
Are they so afraid the whole thing might be a scam they will defend it at any cost rather than look for the truth?

Joseph, that describes me in what I consider my last year of Mormonism.

Umm ... that is because you were a naïve fundamentalist who had not understood your religion or learned enough about it. You thought you were defending the CoJCoLDS, but in reality you got it all wrong.
That is proved by the fact that you left the church. No-one who understands the church's teachings ever leaves it.

In some instances, I'm sure that's the case. We only need look to apostates who describe their experience that way and remember when their defenses were bordering on hysterical.
But I wouldn't go ahead and assume that of every strident defender. That's virtually guaranteed not to be the case.

Nope, I took Chap's statement very literally.

I'll bet you take JSJr's claims literally too.

They should now. The day of the Gentiles is done and over with. Come out of Babylon. Be ye clean and flee unto Zion. And that because they DO understand the Restoration and commandments of Jesus Christ.
