The 1830s are getting more antiquated all the time
Mormonism was primarily conceived and developed as a theology during the 15-year JSJr era from 1829 to 1844. Many of the 'truths' from god were merely common notions of the times. Indeed, most of Mormon theology from that period seems to be an amalgamation of numerous parts borrowed from numerous sources.
As time marches on, developments in science and other information have made Mormonism's theological underpinnings quite quaint. There was a time when the LDS Church basked in being a 'peculiar people'. After ETB in particular, when GBH really began running things (sorry HWH) the LDS Church began tacking away from peculiarity and toward being accepted by mainstream Christianity. GBH was sure that polygamy was ever a doctrine, despite section 132 of the Doctrine & Covenants. GBH wasn't sure of the King Follett Sermon being something that the LDS Church taught.
Mopologists are on a never-ending crusade to take "a closer look", or as they might explain, "on further examination, it appears... ." In this process, they are denuding Mormonism of its peculiarities and its theologies expressed by found JSJr. The goal is to make Mormonism's teachings and claims unfalsifiable and thus unassailable.
What I've described above is nothing new to this Board. It has been expressed in numerous threads and posts.
My reason in starting this thread is to posit to the hard scientists and vanguard scholars, asking what processes are currently being worked upon scientifically that might have the potential to make the unfalsifiable about Mormon teachings actually falsifiable? Modern DNA and archaelogical processes are certainly damning of Mormonism's 'truth' claims, given the elaborate story of Lehi's family leaving Jerusalem and traveling to the Americas, becoming the ancestors of the primary dwellers of the Western Hemisphere, Jesus visiting them after his resurrection in Jerusalem, massive wars and a record on gold plates being deposited in the "Hill Cumorah" (whevever the hell the mopologists try to place it). Modern knowledge of ancient Egyptian language pounds more nails in the coffin on JSJr's credibility. Either JSJr did not have the imagination to foresee DNA, how progressed archaelogy would become, or the finding of a key (the Rosetta Stone) to unlocking ancient Egyptian so that it could be translated, or he did not care.
So, those of you in the know, can you fathom anything being developed now that might be problematic in the future for Mormonism's 'truth' claims?

Currently, you are stuck because as in the movie Dumb and Dumber the believer has the ability to always come back with: "so your telling me theres a chance!"

So as long as there's an inch of uncertainty, there will be an inch of room for the myth believers.

I think this is accurate. He was above all a selfish narcisstic somewhat charismatic man whose main talent was talking people out of their money, their heritage, and their clothes. Our leaders now are nothing like him; they use the hammer... he used charm.

If someone actually did hie to Kolob, and God disavowed any association with Joseph.
I know, I know...
But really... what's left to be dismantled? The flood is gone, the tower of babel is gone, doctrinal racism is gone, men on the moon is gone, polygamy is gone, Zelph is gone, Joseph translating anything is gone, Lamanites/Nephites is gone... really, is anything left?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

When you put it like that harmony, I guess Mormonism is not merely passé but it's over. Stick a fork in it.

An old transylvanian joke:
The székely* is working on a big wooden rod.
- Do you carve a recoil rod? - asks his son.
- Maybe.
Next day, he is working on a small rod. (Bings of chippings around.)
- Do you carve a cane? - asks the son.
- Maybe.
Third day, the székely is working on a small piece of wood. (Everything around are flooded by chippings.)
- Do you carve a toothpick?
- If I don't cock it up.
* The Székelys are known to be strong-willed, hard-working, resourceful people who are, at the same time, temperamental, full of virtue, and have a funny sense of humor; something that an outsider cannot always figure out (Hung. székely góbé).

Your temple recommend is not gone. I think that you still have it and want to have it. Amazing. Truly amazing for a Mormon with such a belief system.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

And yet, the LDS church is marching on. Why? Because in a world of craziness and insecurity it provides comfort and joy in how to actually do life. If one follows the moral code of the LDS church one can not go wrong.

Why Me,
I wonder what you mean by 'marching on'?
The Church claims 14 million members, at best 40% of these members attend Church. Statistically more than half of the convert baptisms leave the Church within their first 12 months of membership. The Church is haemorrhaging members aged between 18 and 30 and us now juggling wards around to try and keep them.
All this out of an earthly population of nearly 7billion people.
That's not marching forward, that's sinking.
How is Joseph Smith revolutionising the world? Apple is having a bigger impact on peoples lives. Joseph Smith is having an imPact on less than half of one percent of the worlds population.
You are deluding yourself if you think the Church is getting stronger.

I heard 18% just recently, but I'm not sure if that's accurate.

Danged kids won't get married.
Currently my daughter is dating a non-member. LDS men aren't interested in getting married.
