Calling & Election made sure: The Case of William Schryver
Dear Belinda:
Please solve a mystery for us: Why does your husband think that his calling & election have been made sure?

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Calling & Election made sure: The Case of William Schryver

I will answer that question, if Belinda does not.
I believe you are referring to the post found here: http://mormondiscussions.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=257348#p257348
Permit me to post the entire relevant portion.
Besides, as I've indicated previously, I have my calling and election made sure. I'd have to shed innocent blood to fall from my exaltation at this point. And we both know I ain't gonna find any of that here.
.
.
.
Edit: By the way, when do I get my certificate of Godhood, and the party that goes with it?
What, are you gonna discriminate against me just because I'm so popular here?
So, back in August 2009, he says that he has his calling and election made sure, and asks when he's going to get his "certificate of godhood." Note that the current posting status of "William Schryver" is shown as "God." In other words, it was a joke on his POSTING STATUS at the time.
But I rather think you know that.
I likewise think "The Beast" knows it perfectly well.
Do I think knowing that would slow either of you down?
Well, why should I suppose that?

Pahoran

seems to me the relevent portion is:
"Besides, as I've indicated previously, I have my calling and election made sure."
William's claim about his calling and election pre-dates this post.
Thus his making light of it in this thread does not address the question of where did this originate? That is the context that we need to be looking closely at

Actually I think the entire posted portion is relevant, because it provides the context to that remark.
And being blessed with the ability to read, I could actually tell that he was referring to something he'd previously written.
About his posting status.

Please help me understand.
Okay, I'll help you understand.
Understand first that "Christine Jonsen" killed her children because she was mentally ill, not because she was operating under a logical understanding of LDS doctrine.
Understand second that "Christine Jonsen" was not her real name, and we have no reason to believe you actually knew her.
Understand third that, with that disgusting bit of polemical demagoguery on your track record -- not merely a few insulting throwaway lines directed at message board opponents, but a serious, considered attempt to smear the Church of Jesus Christ by association, and one that you pertinaciously maintained for the lifetime of the thread in question -- you have absolutely no standing whatsoever to criticise any other message board participant.
On any message board.
Anywhere.
In the world.
Does that help you understand?

Pahoran,
Just as I (the minority of one) was celebrating your return (because I fully admit I like your biting sarcasm) I opened the board, started reading and found the above.
You are wrong, Pahoran.
What you needed to do was post the context of the exchanges wherein Will has called harmony "the biggest blow hard of a bitch", Shades questions it in light of scripture and then, Will makes the above comment.
I do not, for a second, believe that the above was a reference to his posting status based on reading the post in the context of the exchanges.
I would like you to read the exchanges in context and see if you still stand with that evaluation.

So nice to see you again, Beastie.
Now, just between you and me. (Okay, and the other two and a half people who might have bothered to read this far.) You've known all along that Will's mention of "calling and election made sure" was about his posting status, haven't you?
But it was just too good to pass up, wasn't it?

Pahoran,
One more thing you should know. I don't really give two damns about Will or his apologetics because is simply doesn't involve me. I dislike his language toward women and although he has never addressed me in that way (if he did, I would be all over him like white on rice and you know it, but that's a Jersey Girl for you), I would like you to check that post in context again because I do think your eval is in error.
Please check it again.

Thank you, Jersey Girl. Yes, I have read the discussion in context.
And yes, I do still stand with that evaluation. Furthermore, I think it the only one available on the evidence.
Ponder what Will said about "shedding innocent blood." He doesn't say that "anything I post isn't shedding blood," does he? He says, "We both know I ain't gonna find any of that here."
And why does he follow up his remark about "calling and election" by demanding his "certificate of godhood?" Because that's the next posting status level, of course.
I'm not defending everything Will has posted. As I said, some of it is in bad taste. In fact, so (IMHO) was that particular joke; but that was all it was.
And I can't believe I'm the only one who got it.
