LoaP, Internet/Chapel Mormons in Trib

Post by _TrashcanMan79 »

Just bringing a piece from yesterday's Trib to y'all's attention that quotes a bit from a blog post by Blair Hodges and mentions "Internet" and "Chapel" in a list of types of Mormons. Check it!

I very much agree with him. I have a hard time thinking of anyone as an "anti-mormon" too. I does get tricky to refer to a group of people though.

Since Poll's groundbreaking 1967 essay, What the Church Means to People Like Me, many other Mormons have used those metaphors to describe themselves or how they approach LDS teachings.

I've never heard of such metaphors till now. Probably old-fashioned preNOM-speak.

The best way to blow apart such labels, he argues, is by being complex believers who don't fit the categories.

He's wrong. Complexity for the sake of complexity is as bad as diversity for the sake of diversity. Being a TBM is as about as complex as one can get since we all have to be TBM from all sorts of different backgrounds.
