For those of you who aren't following Gaga on Facebook and Twitter, you might be unaware that Gaga just released her new album, Born this Way.
It has become painfully obvious to me after listening to the song previews on the album that Lady Gaga has gone through an unfortunate change. I would like to suggest that her change is similar to what the Mormon church is going through and what they have been going through for the last 30 years.
Since the early days of Gaga's signing with Island Def Jam, her sound has been influenced by a Boyd K Packer of sorts, correlating the lyrics and sound (and look) to a mold to better fit the requirements of their PR department.
She was getting so popular. Was this unavoidable?
Here is another similarity to the Mormon church. Gaga claims she was a social misfit but was actually very normal in her younger years. Interestingly, she created much of her own history out of thin air. This is something I actually admired about her. She is very good at going into a different world and taking you with her. It is great for those who like to take little breaks into a fictional world from time to time (same thing religion does).
Joseph Smith did the same thing, did he not? While his views were slowly evolving, he had a way to make people think his current ideas were always how things were. He lived in an alternate reality, creating a story that defied convention with courage. Since then, the church has become watered down and correlated. The vibrant colors are turning into shades of brown.
There is my mini-thesis, submitted to the faculty of Cassius in hopes to spent more time outside of the boiler room.

"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. ... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith, 1844

At least you don't have to pay her 10% of your income, in fact for today only....well you all probably know the rest and Amazon's servers are going berserk...

But I'm not referring to her Bitter End days as her glory days. Right after that is when she began to create her amazing religion.
Maybe this is just a blip...
Maybe the Mormon church is going through a similar phase. It's something that just happens when you get popular and want everyone to like you?
