I didn't want to return to this cesspool, but personal integrity demands it of me. I recently learned that Will's NAMI (or whatever the journal's name is) articles have been given the boot.

This means that not only was I terribly wrong about the influence of this "backwater" board on LDS apologetic decision-making, but Scratch's network of informants is evidently not entirely incorrect in what they expose.

Clearly, the threats and smear campaign from many here at MD worked in silencing Will Schryver even among his own. I didn't think that was possible, but I obviously seriously under estimated the power of this mob--which is ironic given how the mob prides itself on free speech and has complained long and hard about censorship in certain quarters. At least this is one way to avoid having to confront Will's arguments.

Now that Will is out of the way, it will be interesting to see who next gets targeted for lynching.

You seem like you're wrong about most things, so this shouldn't come as a big surprise.

Freedom of speech is not freedom from the consequences. One is free to say vile, hateful things but not free from being judged by them.

There was actually a poll and thread dedicated to who wanted Will's paper to be published and I think it was nearly unanimous in the positive. Most would like to see it published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Wade, Will is a warthog. Good for nothing but kicking up dust. Get over it.
I resisted and ignored most of the anti-willistics until I read his recent 'lost tooth' account of how he openly shamed a young lady at a home town dance as a teenager. The fact that he bragged about it today when he could have just said it differently tanked him from all respectable considerations. That little girl probably had a crush on him and he probably knew it. He openly exulted in verbal child abuse of the most heinous sort and was gleeful about how she became a tramp later in life. A trophy? Predator! Criminal!

If you want to stake a claim as a serious apologist, man, have the guts to pick something significant and not the most obscure insignificant object in LDS history. Dust. Just dust.

You seem like a damn good person. I am not sure why you would feel the need to defend Will. He has said/done some pretty terrible things. I believe Will can fight his own battles.

It should be noted that I want Will to be published but I also want him to realize that if you act like a tough guy than expect to be treated like a tough guy.

Wade, your reading comprehension is way off. Please take the time to read Ms. Jack's OP on page 1 of her thread regarding Will.

This was no smear campaign. Will chose to say what he said. It is there for any and all who wish to read.

It was not anyone's goal here to stifle Will's work. As a matter of fact, most here, critic and faith-supporter alike, have acknowledged that they would like to see Will's work published.

But if Will wants to be an apologist and represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, then he has a responsibility to conduct himself in a manner that is appropriate for that role. And, after reading the material written by Will's own hand, apparently the folks at MI did not feel that Will lived up to that responsibility. Frankly, their action was much more harsh than I expected it to be. My hope was that they would simply take Will aside and ask that he make a public apology, and commit to conduct himself in a more professional manner from this point forward. I think that is what everyone here expected to take place. Do I agree with MI's decision to pull the plug on Will's publication? NO....as a matter of fact, I don't.

I do, however, RESPECT that decision. And so should you.

Wade, why isn't your quarrel with the Neal A. Maxwell Institute? They're the only ones with any decision making power in this whole ordeal.

Seems silly to hold anyone on this board (except for Will, of course) responsible for the powers that be at NAMI being troubled by Will's posts here.
