http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/20 ... ders/4474/That anyone supported segregation and was against integration, much less leaders of l-dsinc is shameful.
The images are powerful and show what hatred existed against people who just wanted to be treated with respect.
And to think ET wanted to run at the VP candidate with the racist bastard George Wallace - as well as for President with the racist Strom Thurmond as his running mate.
Then we have human garbage like "apostle" Mark E. Peterson preaching religious racism in his talks to BYU students.
Sadly this type of thinking is still alive in many l-dsinc wards and stakes.

B***s***
All of the available sociological data show that Mormons are no more racist than any other white Americans. In fact, some show that Mormon congregations are LESS racist than some other denominations.
I agree that ETB was a nutter when it came to Communism and Civil Rights but to say that Modern Mormonism holds these views is absurd.
Even when ETB was going strong there were plenty of members of the Q12 who despised his politics and did everything they could to get him to tone it down.
Quinn's Extensions of Power demonstrates the above quite well. I suggest you read it.
I would also suggest Armand Mauss' All Abraham's Children and the work he did with Lester Bush on the race / curse of cain issue.

Hello Mr. Joseph,
My devout Mormon father, and Stake Seventy (that's for Mr. Simon), often referred to Mr. MLK as a Socialist Propagandist.
Well. There you go. He might have been right when it comes to "Economic Equality", but on the Social front my devout Mormon father's "politics" smacked of racism.
Did I ever tell you that my mother stormed into my room one day (I was about 13) and demanded I take that Nigger's poster off my wall? I had a poster of Magic Johnson (heh). Oddly enough they let me keep Earl Campbell's poster. Go figure.

"there were plenty of members of the Q12 who despised his politics and did everything they could"
Pure unadultrated BS.
He stayed in his calling and even got elevated to the top spot.
They did not get rid of the piece of trash.

"Oddly enough they let me keep Earl Campbell's poster."
Earl Campbell played in Texas, the Country that annexed the United States to it to boost its stature in the world.

In one ward we lived in a few years ago a couple who had adopted some black kids sold their home and moved out of Utah. Their kids were not accepted in the town and they had too many problems with their ward and stake members as a result of the adoptions.
They say it is much nicer out and away from the Utards and moron central.

The difference between the regurgitation of simpleminded, interested propaganda and serious thinking and historical knoweldge is, indeed, stunning.
The fact of the matter is that MLK was moving toward Marxism near the end of his life, and had leaned fairly far to the Left for sometime (as his recklessly intemperate public statements about the Vietnam war attest).
The civil rights movement he led had, in point of historical fact, been infiltrated by agents of influence and indigenous "fellow travelers" of the radical left early on, and had been seen as a fertile ground for such colonization by the Soviet Union for quite sometime prior to MLK's untimely death.
The civil rights movement was certainly no "communist plot," but elements of it suffered a subversive, radicalizing influence from without during the sixties that is simply a matter of the historical record. Part of the effect of such infiltration was doubtless the fact that, immediately after MLK's death, the movement was essentially hijacked by the black power movement and the left-wing racialist segment of the movement as represented by Jesse Jackson and others, and never recovered its moral or intellectual authority as a movement for equal civil rights, equal opportunity, and integration.
CFR that Benson saw the entire movement as a communist plot, and not fundamentally as I've explained it here, as an indigenous political movement undergoing subversion and radicalization from within by radical elements that had infiltrated and settled within it (just as American communists had attempted in Hollywood and, with little success, American unions).

Yes, Ezra Taft Benson was just one of the many racist Mormon leaders of our generation. His John Bircherism oozed from every pore whenever he spoke, and it annoyed a few other LDS leaders as well.
But the fact is this is all based on the Mormon Negro Doctrine. You know, they aren't "white and delight some" like droopy.

Graham's intellectual and moral deterioration continues on its way to howling oblivion.
