Can we have a writer's room? Please?

I find myself wanting to take advantage of, I mean learn from, (smile), the many fabulous writers who participate on this forum.

I acknowledge that this is a board for discussions centered on the LDS faith but we already have some non-LDS centered discussion rooms.

Since our very own esteemed Dr. Shades already has an ongoing thread on grammar, since many of us want to improve our writing skills, and since improved writing would make our board even more incredible, (yes, I am sucking up a bit here), why not have a room in the off-topic area for improved writing skills?

I'm thinking out loud here but could we explore this?

Anyone else feel like their writing could be improved?

No, as a matter of fact, I believe my writing style is near perfection. ;-)

That said, I would *love* to see a new forum on the board and if writing improvement is of interest, then I'm all for it.

Not that I need it, of course.

:-D

I'd love to have a writers' room, as my writing is in constant need of improvement.

Could this new forum or room have an erotica sub-section, with possibly some mention of robot sex thrown in?

I vote yes. I have written what I want to write, now I need to polish how I wrote it. Moksha, Asimov ran over it lightly somewhere.

You mean create a section for Japanese-style comics / manga? How could Shades possibly say no to something Japanese. Just look at his avatar (hopefully not copyrighted or at least used with permission).

I'm sorry, Mok, but the idea of sex combined with hardware scares me a little (fear of a permanent injury). The writer's room sounds good, though.

Read Asimov. Not until technology can imitate human flesh.

I'm thinking one would need to have a spray can of WD-40 handy.

What a great idea! Maybe a new off topic sub forum? We could figure out how to set it up later, but maybe one person could submit, then be open for critique for a week or so, then another person could submit... Anyway, that's just off the top of my head. There could be many different ways to configure it.

I also have some links I can provide for online writing resources as well as for writers who do short critiques/online tutorials for a fee.
