But that was one of the reasons ZLMB was started, and it died because LDS members couldn't win the debates, so they left in a huff. They wanted to go somewhere that provided them preferential treatment, and that is what they got at FAIR.

One quibble here: ZLMB did give LDS posters preferential treatment. It was moderated by a team that included faithful Mormons, ex-Mormons and never-Mormons, and Pacumeni made a sincere effort to play fair, but at the end of the day, he always had the final say. My observation was that apologists who broke the rules seemed to incur lighter penalties and were less likely to be perma-banned than critics who broke the rules.

It just didn't give them as much preferential treatment as they would have liked, so they left for the land of FAIR/MAD/MDD and even more preferential moderation.

I know we have several on this forum who also served as ZLMB moderators back in the day. If they remember otherwise, please feel free to speak up.

Hey Kevin,

Kevin Graham wrote:
After recounting, there are 896 threads started this year (not counting the few in "Focused Discussions")

Guess how many of those have been shut down? An astounding:

699!

This means that 78% of the threads have been shut down entirely.

This can't be right, can it? (699 out of 896 threads have been shut down?)

Why would anyone want to start a discussion on a forum where you have a 78% chance of moderator interference?

Unless I am completely missing something (I offer that possibility), the only reason I can think of is that you really aren't after what most people would consider a "discussion", and even if you should have other posters sneak up on you to try and "discuss" things with you on a discussion board, you can always depend on the moderator interference to protect those people who may not be very fond of "discussions" and or "dialogue" on their discussions and dialogue board.
(Typing that gave me a wicked headache!)

And this, considering that most discussions are initiated by faithful members of the Church!

This would seem to lend support to my above contribution/guess.

Wow! Those numbers are mind-bending (If they are true)

Peace,

At least you have good taste in film.

There is so much that could be said about that film, from racial relations to the perception and role of women. Etc and etc. But I digress.

Yeah. I kind of like the 1990 re-make, with Tony Todd and a non-catatonic Barbra who kicks a bit of ass. But the original was a classic.

See? Why do you do this, Bob?

You always fane innocence, and yet you take needless swipes like this, stating that the majority of people on the board have mental deficiencies. Then, you wonder why people tend to take swipes at you.

Amazing.

Let me guess....you're going to claim that your mental abilities comment should be considered tongue in cheek. Give me a break.

(I really miss the "roll eyes" smilie, which I would insert here.)

OK, more number crunching... Nemesis at MAD posted the forum stats for this year through Jun 7th.

Total number of posts is 54,225

Now one of the mods here can certainly correct me, but for kicks I decided to start counting the number of posts from every page of each forum, going all the way back to Jan 1st. I made sure to round down also. I knew my figures wouldn't be exact but I wanted to get an idea to see if we were even in the same ball park as MAD.

Based on my estimates for that same time-frame, there were roughly 54,000 posts here in the terrestrial forum alone.

Another 7,000 in celestial, 1,200 in telestial, and 3,000 in the off-topic forum, giving us a rough estimate of 65,200 posts for the first half of this year. That is roughly 30% better than MAD.

I guess it is safe to say we've surpassed MAD...

Congratulations Shades.

So I guess if we're just an obscure trailer park, then what is MAD?

Well I have come to appreciate so saying I was glad your style has not changed was sincere. Though I will confess it has taken me time to come to appreciate it. I am a bit slow at times.
