New Order Mormonism is so freaking stupid
I don't understand it at all. If you are smart enough to realize that the Mormon church is fake after being raised in the church you should be smart enough to see the negative effect that it has on people. The sense of community you get does not justify being part of a sexist, racist and homophobic organization.

I'm not one of them, but there are people who disagree with you. You say it's not worth it, but that is a call you only get to make for yourself. Apparently, to some people it is in fact worth it.
Personally, I hate ketchup, but Heinz is still raking it in from all the poor deluded fools who disagree with me. Go figure.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Yes, God forbid that anyone should tolerate green jello to keep their family together. Oh the horror!

It's much more serious than that. Because of the LDS church women are taught that they are inferior in a number of subtle ways, homosexuals are taught that they are evil, and people miss out on a number of enjoyable life experiences (like drinking) that could have improved that only life they are going to get. I think people are morally obligated to try to deconvert their family members from the LDS church or even mainstream Christianity.

Where can I look up a list of these morals to make such a decision? Morals to deconvert people from Christianity? Are these morals as voiced by Mohammed?
How can I know if I am doing the "moral thing" if I jettison Christianity? Isn't "morality" a religious thing?

So, let's say, for the sake of argument, that I deeply love my wife and kids, but my wife is a fervent believer, and any attempt to lead her out of Mormonism would be seen as a violation of our marriage, perhaps leading to a divorce that I don't want. Am I morally obligated, in your view, to destroy my marriage by attempting to lead my wife out of Mormonism?

Does morality have to be a religious thing?

I believe that morality stems from the subjective preferences of individual beings and has no objective basis. That is just my moral opinion.
It is interesting to note that the above would be true even if god exists. You might find this interesting.

Absolutely. Especially if your wife has influence over your children and could influence the religious path they take later in life.

I couldn't disagree more.
