What does that even mean?

"You will be so miserable that you won't even know you are miserable."

What does that even mean?

I once told my mom that I'm happy since I left Mormonism and I'm not supposed to be according to what I was taught. She said, "You just think you're happy."

Again, what does that even mean? I guess that I will concede that I just think I'm happy, but it sure works for me.

I think this guy brings up a great point. If the church is everything it claims to be, then people who leave should realize it and run back to the church. That hasn't happened in my case. The church couldn't pay me enough to go back. I just think I'm happy, but I highly recommend it.

It's like Simon said about apples, you can't trust your emotions.

No wait, nevermind.

"You just think you're happy."

As a man thinketh, so is he.

This is just their way of telling you that once you have the "gift" of Mormonism and your bosom hath burndeth, to reject it would then make any happiness you thought you felt be a ruse, since Satan's grasp had control of your dark soul. That, and you're going to outer darkness (insert scary music here).

At a wedding recently and had a conversation with a close relative who commented on the Mormons there who were trying to out-Mormon the other Mormons. Endless blather about how a son is on a mission or a daughter is having her 8th child with her bishop husband was a transparent ploy to show their Mormon hand and how well it was stacked. I'm not saying it's wrong to be proud of your kids, but to equate their accomplishments based on the Mormon church is very typical. The end of the conversation was humorous when it was pointed out that if heaven was full of these people, hell would be a better option (insert maniacal laughter here).

People that stay active in the church are so happy, they don't even know they're happy.

Sometimes they just think they're miserable but really, they are happy.

Zing!

Even with the stress of being an active Mormon and closet atheist, I'm happier now than I was as a believer. No more cog dis!

Some people are happy while being a part of the Church. Some people are happy even though they have no part in the Church. I don't see why anyone has assumed the Church is for everyone. Obviously that isn't the case.

Because they assume that the church is as it claims - the only true and living church and the only path to true happiness.
