BYU apostate

Post by _zeezrom »

I'm in a very public place in Utah today and I'm wearing a BYU shirt with no garments on underneath. Why does it seem wrong to do this? Why do my BYU clothes seem to require the special undergarments? I wonder if people think something is wrong when they notice a man older than 21 isn't wearing Gs with his BYU shirt.

Weird.

I'm so glad I don't live in Utah. I really empathize with you, Zee. The Utah Mormon culture is very "Big Brother-ish".

Liz,

It ain't too bad. Hey, I'm getting on a plane with 16 missionaries fresh out of the MTC! Maybe it's time to have a discussion! This reminds me of the good 'ol days.

I rarely wear the garment shirt unless I am in dress clothes (work, Church, etc). I am not a huge fan.

Where are you heading off to zee? Coming up to see me? Plenty of sweet engineering jobs up here if your looking to get out of utah.

The other day my bro had sister missionaries over for dinner and it was clear that I wasn't wearing garments. The funny thing is I was talking to them about my mission. I bet it kind of baffled them and they were probably wondering why I wasn't wearing garments. I told them how I loved dinner appointments on my mission and how I would often book two dinner appointments. I said they should invite me to all there dinner appointments they laughed and said I should give the spiritually thought. My spiritual thought would probably be about polygamy and kolob.

Anyways, I think its fun to give members confused looks.

I once gave a spiritual thought on Kolob when i was on splits with a missionary. The lady was cracked out her mind so I figured: what the hell why not?

I always figured BYU gear had garments sewn into them so you get a 2 for one deal when you buy them.

Possibly even weirder is seeing guys wear BYU t-shirts at the gay dance clubs in SLC!!! :-P (Its clear, when they then strip off their shirts and dance topless, that there's no garments, either...)
