How could I go any further? That's as far as you yourself have revealed.

Then you better have a CFR, my little invertebrate.

If you ever lose your faith, you might be surprised to discover that the appeal of porn is lost with it. Forbidden fruit isn't half as enticing when the forbidden part is taken away.

This vacuous argument is just a warmed over rehash of the old sixties/early seventies sexual revolution ideology that seeks to erase the concept of sin be erasing the concept of righteousness. Its vacuous psychology, and self serving mental masturbation of the highest order.

Black and white thinking and extreme demonization of porn makes members feel great shame and a sense of failure when they inevitably look at porn.

You might try taking the needle out of your arm and reading your own link. Alcoholism is a bad thing, Buffalo, and relapse creates serious psychological consequences, I've been through it many times. Your alternative - go ahead and drink until you pass out - isn't on the table for intellectually mature adults.

Pornography is evil, among the most evil, dark, and debasing practice, business, and culture within the modern global milieu, and a head-first dive into moral relativism dressed up as pop psych semantic dissembling in an attempt to escape your own freedom and responsibility to choose is, in a word, disgusting.

No wonder Utah is the porn capital of America.

I suspect that the truth may be that what little grey matter flops around between your ears may, indeed, be the porn capital of the world, which would explain your projection of it onto me.

Droopy,

Aren't you glad this place is a cesspool, with the ability to treat and clean the crap that gets dumped in here?

Zee.

Hi Droopy,

Thanks for the cute nickname!

I seem to recall you talking about struggling with porn addiction and other vices at some point (booze?), but I don't know the reference. When you said this, it brought that to mind:

"It says it is addictive, which it is, and it is one of the deepest and most cruelly debilitating of all addictions, and among the most painfully difficult to break."

So are you saying you've never been addicted to porn? That you don't struggle with addiction (whether or not you act on that) now? I'll believe whatever you say, although I don't think any less of you either way.

In any case, I was hoping for a more substantive response from you. Trying to link a real psychological phenomenon with "a warmed over rehash of the old sixties/early seventies sexual revolution" is characteristically lacking in substance and thought.

Your false dilemma and strawman don't add anything either. ("Your alternative - go ahead and drink until you pass out - isn't on the table for intellectually mature adults."). The abstinence violation effect speaks to black and white, all or nothing thinking like you are displaying. It has nothing to do with not having limits on behavior - it's about realizing that it's okay to screw up once in a while. It's not the end of the world.

Your world view inevitably results in a cycle of addiction, self-destruction and self-loathing. I feel bad for you, and for all the Mormons who have become obsessed with porn due to the dysfunctional information coming at them in priesthood sessions and general conference.

I do suppose I should remind all here that I've never, here or anywhere else, made the claim that I am a porn addict.

I mentioned a while back that I had some experience with it, and that it was a part of my life as an alcoholic. Beyond that, I never - and wouldn't - talk about it with anyone here save a few select people, and not in this forum.

I have never asserted that I was "struggling with porn addiction." Buffalo, meet MsJack. Jack, meet Scratch. Scratch, meet beastie. I have had personal experience with it, and studied it intensely. I have also known others who have had problems with sex addiction, and I do know about addiction.

Welcome to the cesspool.

Thanks for the clarification. I retract my previous statement regarding your supposed addiction to porn and apologize.

You are very welcome!

What if pornography is defined as " imagery that arouses sacred procreative powers"? In this case, would you still categorize it the way you have?

You can dissemble with the best of them, can't you? A real pro.

So are you saying you've never been addicted to porn? That you don't struggle with addiction (whether or not you act on that) now? I'll believe whatever you say, although I don't think any less of you either way.

I told you what I said.

In any case, I was hoping for a more substantive response from you. Trying to link a real psychological phenomenon with "a warmed over rehash of the old sixties/early seventies sexual revolution" is characteristically lacking in substance and thought.

You don't even understand what your talking about, and that is characteristic of the great and spacious cesspool.

The abstinence violation effect speaks to black and white, all or nothing thinking like you are displaying.

Yeah, this is just warmed over sixties pop-psych sophistry, the purpose of which is to eliminate sin by making all moral/ethical conditions and phenomena a matter of perception and semantics. I lived through that era, and I know it quite well. It is now the default position of the culture.

It has nothing to do with not having limits on behavior - it's about realizing that it's okay to screw up once in a while. It's not the end of the world.

1. This principle itself must have severe limits.
2. Depending upon the behavior in question, it could very well be the end of one's world. Have you had your tubes tied yet? Please, do so, for the sake of the precious spirits that will then hopefully be sent to a father holding some semblance of an adult view of the world.

Your world view inevitably results in a cycle of addiction, self-destruction and self-loathing.

Yeah...uh huh...(ahem...).

Addiction is not caused by the perception that addiction exists (leftists, you see, have to be told elementary things such as this) but by a pathological, compulsive relationship one develops with something within one's environment and which has a deep meaning and purpose relative to the individual's unique psychological characteristics and attributes.

Abstinence is the best course of action regarding addiction because of the risks involved in attempting controlled use or acting out. With pornography, unlike alcohol, the evil is inherent in the activity, on both sides, both the voyeur and the participants. There is, in the Church, no "grey" area for sexual media in any sense other than there is no grey area for premarital sex, adultery, homosexual behavior, lying, stealing, cheating, or any other clear violation of gospel moral/ethical standards. There is no gray area regarding sin at all. But that's what the Atonement is all about, and the grace of Christ.

I feel bad for you, and for all the Mormons who have become obsessed with porn due to the dysfunctional information coming at them in priesthood sessions and general conference.

Oprahbabble. Nothing to see here.

I understand that you're a very angry man. But I'd like to hear a criticism of the very real abstinence violation effect that rises above your dismissive "psychobabble" retorts.
