I just got an email from Dan. His son had a severe seizure, and they have taken him to the ER.

I'll give more information as I receive it.

I know we all have our differences, but we have always rallied in times of crisis.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I'm fasting for him tomorrow. Anyone care to join me?

Everything will turn out alright Dan, your son is probably a fighter like you.

People on this board need to give Dan a break. Posters need to call a truce and let Dan care for his son in peace and serenity.

Let's see:

I believe that I cannot do anything for Daniel Peterson or his son that will help them in any way, or that they need at this time.

But I do have (in real life) this sense of gratitude to all the people I meet in daily life who confer my personhood upon me by recognizing my human existence (and I can't see how to remain human without the reciprocity of which gratitude is a part). I think that my interactions with Daniel Peterson here and elsewhere have in small ways helped me maintain my sense of human existence, even if only through disagreement and occasionally derision.

So if any of you think there is anything you can do for this man and his son as they face up to the enemies in the form of disease and death who seek to destroy every one of us, please go ahead and do it, and good luck to you.
