LDS Nursery lessons changed because people were leaving?
Another EXCELLENT i-am-an-exmormon video about a woman who started her exit from LDS because of a major change to the Nursery lessons??
NOTE: For nevermos, nusery is basically Sunday daycare for Mormon kids 1.5 years to 3 years old, or the very beginning of the indoctrination into LDS.
She said that 15 year or so ago, they changed the nursery lessons from simple stories for the little kids to major doctrinal lessons. When she confronted the stake leaders about the change from simple stories in nursery she said that the reason was due to people leaving the church and that the decision was made that they must teach the doctrine at an even younger age...
This eventually lead her to doubt TSCC(the so called church) so much that she exited.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... uXc0#t=80s
These videos are very well produced and shot with DSLR cameras using a 50mm f/1.4 lens to give a more intimate feel with a very shallow depth of field. This is a great use of technology to get the message out and to compete with the lameass mormonmessages tripe.
Content like hers is very damning to the church for sure.

I filled in once in Nursery with a friend of mine and taught the lesson. It came down to, "God created fish". We had goldfish crackers.
This was in the last 15 years. What were the earlier lessons about that was simpler?

Did you watch the "Emily Pearson" video related the Nusrey video? She is a looker, but I had to think:
You can take a woman out of Mormonism but you can't take the Relief Society arms out her.

You should have been using the nursery manual.

Looking over the lessons I found one on the First Vision®:
Joseph Smith Saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
I found the following very troubling, under the Teaching Tips section:
Testimony: Express your testimony in a simple, concise way; for example: “I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.”
Telling a two year old that you KNOW something happened that cannot be proven ...

Wow, that is quite a lesson plan for 1.5 years to 3 years old kids.
I couldn't find the lesson on "For 10% You Can Buy Blessings" or "If You Lived In Joseph's Time You Could Be His Wife In A Little Over A Decade". They'll probably get those lessons as Sunbeams. Kind of a "Similac before Mixed Vegetables & Beef" thing.

While they may have used a 50 f/1.4 lens most of the video is not shot at f/1.4. The depth is not shallow enough at the shooting distance for that aperture.
Would be nicer if they had used a tripod for the production. Much less jerkiness - the hallmark of home videos.
Other than that, done just fine.

It's not going to make a difference, unless they start teaching things like Fanny was Joseph's First Affair, or The Missing Priesthood Restoration Revealtion, or Brigham Young: God's Ass Talks...
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

A friend of mine had a nursery calling once until he decided to have the children color a drawing of veggies with the following Orson Pratt quote:

He was released soon after.
Sorry, he used a snippet from that long quote. I can't isolate it using a mobile device.

Yeah, too bad it's completely fabricated.
I was in the nursery for many years, and what The Nehor said was basically right. The kids play with toys, you share a short "message" and that's it.
