If the Brethren don't want Members to keep leaving....

STOP making "Church" on Sunday so UUber-Boring! Cut it from three agonizing hours to 90 minutes, with 30 of those 90 minutes dedicated to a pot-luck. Members can learn more about the Bible from books, they don't need boring-as-hell Sunday schools. They go to Church to socialize, so let them do it.

STOP insisting that suits and ties must be worn on Sunday! Let everyone wear what is clean and comfortable to them as long as it is modest.

STOP teaching that the American Indians are the descendants of Lehi the Jew and Ishmael the Arab (they are the descendents of Evenki the Siberian and UUtti the Tibetan). If you don't know who the Lamanites are (and you don't), and you don't know what happened to them (and you don't), then don't speculate and just say "We don't know what happened to the Lamanites but the American Indians are clearly not them." The Lamanites had "a skin of blackness" not a "skin of redness".

STOP insisting that Adam and Eve were white-skinned Anglo-Saxons and the first humans on the planet.

STOP insisting that the Flood of Noah covered the entire planet up past Mt. Everest.

STOP the teachings of the Gospel of Gain: that material wealth must follow Church activity and tithe-paying.

STOP blaming the Members for the stupid programs and projects of Church leaders that fail--not because the Members are "too lazy" but because the ideas were stupid in the first place.

STOP teaching (indirectly) that the Brethren are infallible, and teach more that they are fallible and they make mistakes

STOP the hero-worship of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, putting them upon pedestals where they can be easily knocked off.

STOP hiding "negative" things in Church history, but "let it all out"-- including the Curse of Cain Legacy (which the Church is now trying to cover-up)

STOP insisting that Exaltation comes by "following the Brethren" and put the emphasis upon following Jesus Christ

STOP telling young Mormon girls "You are pure, you are good, you are the daughters of God" and start teaching them the Gospel, which is they will go to Hell unless they are born again, and only those who have born again are the sons and daughters of God (as the Book of Mormon teaches).

STOP blaming LDS men for not marrying LDS women, when LDS women are the ones NOT marrying LDS men, because they can find non-LDS men who have more money.

STOP telling Home Teachers to "befriend" inactives as a way to get inactives back to Church. As soon as the Home Teachers drop them as friends, the inactives go back inactive.

STOP ordaining young boys as deacons, teachers, and priests, and return it to what it was in the days of Joseph Smith.

STOP insisting that African-Americans must "integrate" into "white" Mormon wards and branches, when they are NOT comfortable in these congregations and never will be...give them their own wards!

STOP the practice of calling self-righteous FOOLS as bishops, because they have achieved worldly success, and start calling only the most spiritual men to bishoprics.

STOP teaching that Salvation comes via obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Church, and start crying REPENTENCE to the younger Mormon generations (the older ones are lost beyond hope), and teach them they MUST BE BORN AGAIN if they wish to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Do these things, and many who leave will probably stay.
