Is JerseyGirl suspended?

Post by _MrStakhanovite »

...or under some kind of punishment? I'd like some clarification on this. Also, I'm doing this publicly so other people can see it and we don't have to do some kind of stupid whisper campaign.

From another thread:

Scottie wrote:Yes, Jersey Girl was given a 7 day suspension.

If everyone recalls, there was a HUGE blowout about posting personal information on the board. This included chats and PM's. The majority consensus was that it was to be a no-nonsense rule that had to have teeth otherwise what is the point. That ANY violation of this rule had to come with a suspension.

If I recall correctly, Jersey Girl was one of the strongest supporters of this.

By violating this rule, we simply did what the community at large requested and suspended her.

The proper course of action here would be to PM Shades with the offending PM and let him deal with it.

I seem to remember that Jersey Girl posted a PM she had received.

Can't remember from whom or about what, but I think it might have been something to do with the whole Joseph/Images/Copyright thing...

For quite some time I've ignored just about everything Joseph has posted. I think that is the wisest course. Jersey Girl is my friend and a good person, and I'm really sorry to see her suspended. That said, I'm not sure the mods had a choice in the matter.

I learned a long time ago that some people are trying to goad us into a bad reaction, and then when we play their game, we are the ones who get burned.

I actually think that that posters who previously pointed out the flaw in the rule had a valid point. If some goober decides to harass another poster in some way via PMs, that harassed poster can't expose the private behavior. And if a harassed poster knows that others have similarly been harassed, but that poster would decide to take one for the team to expose the bully for what he/she is.

I think she judged the consequences, and figured a suspension was worth the cost for exposing his bullying behavior. Given the fact that techies are trying to figure out how to defuse his craziness-- we are just waiting.

I doubt Jersey Girl cares she got suspended, probably wanted a week away to begin with. I think it's a interesting snapshot of the board's overall mood.

[This folowing is Scottie the man speaking, not Scottie the mod]

I would also like to point out that we should be conscious and wary of clan mentality here.

Joseph has stated that his PM that no threats were made. He claims he was simply explaining to Jersey Girl what could happen if someone was caught stealing intellectual property.

Jersey Girl has taken this as an act of bullying and it appears that many of you are buying into this.

I am not commenting on whether it was or wasn't bullying, as I haven't seen the PM in question.

I'm simply saying it would be prudent not to crucify Joseph based solely on Jersey Girl's say so.

Perhaps if Joseph would consent to let the PM be shown?

Edited to add: To clarify, Jersey Girl never stated that Joseph threatened her. Also, I mistakenly stated that Joseph said there was no bullying in the PM. This is incorrect. He simply stated there were no threats made.

Has Joseph gone off the deep end? Has he had some sort of psychotic break? Did losing all his friends over his forcing the board closing push him over the edge?

I think his future here is dim. Like Pa Pa's after the suicide debacle. I think a sincere apology on his part and a commitment to stop being the "God of images" might help to resurrect him. I don't see it happening, though.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

[MODERATOR NOTE: Yes, I gave her a 1-week suspension.

The reason I didn't announce it or go into detail about it is because I don't think it's right to kick someone when he or she is down.]
