Why must God, a being with superhuman capabilities, be considered good? Out of fear that if we do not God will use that power against our better interests?
Why must God, good or not, be the creator of us or of the universe?

A God with superhuman capabilities? Come on, you're better than that. That may describe what LDS believe, I don't know, you can take that up with them. But the Christian God is not "superhuman".
Nonetheless, I'll answer. I worship God because He is worthy of it. I do not fear God's retribution. And yes, God's nature is the source of our moral compass.
So.... what's next.
editied to change qualities to capabilities.
