Since what we do here is hot-linking, I think this is something to keep in mind:
Note that above I'm talking about linking against the express wishes of the copyright owner. Ie. the owner put up a notice saying, "Don't link here" or asked you not to link. Without such a notice, there is a fair argument that the authors of web pages welcome links to them and give implicit permission for this to happen. The law will eventually rule consistently on that issue, and if it decides against the ability to link, it will no doubt revolve around what a reasonable person would assume about the intentions of the web site holder.
But my guess would be that if you have an ordinary web site, and linking is not going to bypass some security, or payment system such as advertising, and there's no information anywhere about the site not wanting you to link in and no reason to believe they don't want it, linking should be very safe.

Yes liz, "should' be safe. But you have many on here who have stated they will deliberately post photos they know are coprighted and just look for problems.
Post l-dsinc owned photos. (DesNews and IRI)
Go ahead, take a chance. All it takes is one more pornwriter to complain and file the paperwork. Go back and read the whole thing again. Check with US Copyright laws - and then take the chance. At least shades & co will know who to blame when the site is shut down.
wingchung is trying to drum up legal business. he doesn't really care if this all goes to litigation - while everyone involved is named, gone after and it shows up on everything from credit reports to your job fitness reports. Go ahead - put up photos and watch shades get overwhelmed and then possibly lose everything as a result.
Am I the only one here trynig to keep this site from being shut down? Am I the only one here who respects the property of others?

Second, please refer to where posters here have stated that they are knowingly posting copyright material "to simply cause trouble". I don't ever recall a poster here making that claim.
Third, are you REALLY trying to keep the site from being shut down? You have refused to answer my question that I have now posted to you multiple times. ARE YOU WILLING TO STAY TRUE TO YOUR AGREEMENT WITH SHADES, AND NOT GO BACK ON THAT AGREEMENT WHENEVER SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOU?

I prefer simply, Liz. Joseph has referred to me as "girl" in a condescending tone, and also as "Lez", which is extremely inappropriate...and..when he addresses me in that manner, his post will be moved to Telestial.
Joseph has a problem with me because I did my job, and he didn't appreciate the consequences.

Joseph, I've got an idea - why don't you stop worrying about this. It seems the more *you* worry about this crap, the more restrictive this message board becomes.
Personally, if enough people were calling me an asshole for doing the crap you are doing, I'd cease and desist.
